bobbyc Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 out in the old RA today & for the first time this winter it wasn'ae like an oven inside intermittant cold / hot air inside & for the first time erratic movement of the temp gauge, suspect sticky thermostat any ideas
RS Grant Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I'd go with the 'stat too mate. Cheers, Grant
colin_ross Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 How long had you been running the car for?
bobbyc Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Car normally heats up in a couple of minutes & temp gauge always sits about 1/3, temp gauge normal but no hot air, then hot air comes through for a short period then goes cold again, temp gauge started moving between 1/3 & 2/3's so cars parked up will get a shifty today.
StrikE Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 (edited) Defo got water in? or stat bobby had that a few years ago in a astra Edited February 17, 2010 by StrikE
bobbyc Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Sorted, slight split in bottom hose lack of coolant is the problem, must have went last night glad I was only in the village
micra_wrc Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 glad you've got it sorted. The RA's getting you back for you leaving it to get the defi gauges and pod for the GB
bobbyc Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Gauges will have to wait lol did a press test & got a wee split in the rad as well it never rains
StewartyBoy Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 I got these guys http://www.serckservices.com/ To fix the rad on my Impreza a few years ago. Was pretty cheap, may be a place near you...!?
StewartyBoy Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Serck Marston your looking for, not Intertruck.
bobbyc Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 cheers guy's, the RA was due to get a bit of TLC & restoration work this year anyway, 15 years old now & most of the hoses etc could do with replacing, managed to get a new rad will get that done soonest, think i'll fit the calipers off the GB as well & the bodywork is already in hand just waiting on a date for it to go in.
