W88CHY Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Hi, Seems the Neutral Position Switch has just about gave up, no AVCS now (it was coming/going during the recent Andy Forrest visit). I have ordered one from Ian Greive Subaru (£51.70!! ) - quick question, has any one changed on from a DIY point of view? Do you need to remove the gearbox mount or can you squeeze a hand in? Plan is to get it on the ramps at rear + axle stands at the front so I can get right under. 02 STi btw.....
scooby doom Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I'd also be interested in this having found the same problem while at Andy's. I've just bought mine from eBay, there were listings for 5 and 6 speed gearboxes - links to follow: NPS - 5 speed NPS - 6 speed These eBay listings are for this company - Steve Cotton Competition Services
dark Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 If AndyF had £1 for everytime he's said 'your neutral position switch is knackered' he'd be a rich man! Mine was just flickering on and off and I just had the standard 2mm washer replaced with a thinner one. I watched the mechanic fit it using a 4 post lift and it still looked very akward even after dropping the gearbox mount. On the six speed STI gearbox the switch is right on top and the clearance between the box and the shell is very small. I think it would be a real bitch as a DIY but don't let me stop you trying! Mark
W88CHY Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Cheers guys Should be tackling it at the weekend.
