green_goblin Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I am away to do the parallel fuel mod and have the write up on how to do it, but i have come across an issue!! My fuel rails look different than the one in the picture that shows you how to do it, my fuel rail is completely hard piped and even cutting the pipes, i wouldnt get the lengths right to give equal fuel pressure!! In the write up it says you need "x2 PASSENGER side fuel rails (no fuel pressure regulator on passenger rails)"....but even using 2x passenger rails like the one on my car it wouldnt be right!! my car is a 99, are there fuel rails from another year that would fit my car and has the elbows at each side like in the first picture?? My rails!! Cheers Jase
arch Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) Jase to be honest you need a set of rails that are modded with preferably AN -6 fittings like the ones pictured below. They are phase 1 but lets you see what you need. A couple of pics of my old phase 1.5 manifold with the mod done Hope this helps Edited September 17, 2009 by Arch
colin_ross Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 First off, the length of the rail has nothing to do with the pressure. If you tee the return lines together the fpr will maintain an equal pressure on both. Second, don't take any chances. I cut my 99 rails but without flared end the hoses worked loose and nearly sent my car up in flames. I knw of at least 3 other cars that haven't been as lucky as I was. Buy the proper parts or you'll end up paying much more in the long run.
green_goblin Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Cheers Arch Were can i get a fuel rail for the job?? Is it not really expensive to use braided lines?? Jase

arch Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 (edited) Drop mef a PM on scoobynet he converts them on an exchange basis. Think its £70 and they come back anodised as well, he does a cracking job. The black ones in the pic above are not from mef (Martin) but the phase1.5 silver ones on the manifold are. You can get your braided hose and fittings from here on ebay. http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/autofittings__W0QQ_armrsZ1 I changed some of my braided hose that I got from Pirtek for hose I got from autofittings and the hose from autofittings was far superior quality and significantly cheaper. I have also used his unions and they are very good quality. Edited September 17, 2009 by Arch
RA Dunk Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Hullo Arch, is it his ones i see fitted to your inlet manifold in the above pics? they look pretty good if so, any ideas on the turn around time from mef then?

Also what size of braided hose etc do i need to buy....also what happens when you need to connect the braided hoses to the normal fuel filter?? Sorry for all the questions just need to get all the info and get right on it as i need my car back on the road before i go offshore again
sma01 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 jase, might even be worth speaking to alan j, i got a cracking set of perrin rails to go on mine
arch Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) jase, might even be worth speaking to alan j, i got a cracking set of perrin rails to go on mine Scott the perrin rails are superb but think they are only for top feed i.e new age, they wouldnt fit Jase's car. Martin turned mine round immediately as he had some stock, I also sold him some phase 1 and phase 1.5 standard rails so he could do a batch and have some on exchange. I think your rails will be phase 2. The fuel rails on ebay, or similar, were being sold by slowboy racing over on scoobynet, I dont have any experience of them thats why I stayed with the standard rails converted, at least I knew they worked without any issues. When it comes to connecting to the lines back to the tank and the feed then its just a push fit with jubilee clip as normal but these pipes have proper flared ends so you will have no issues there. Would it be worth going over to an after market filter such as a Sytec with replaceable filter? This is what I have and the paper filters are only £2. There are some pics of my filter on my project thread. oops just another point, I had mentioned on another thread about 20G fitting. I had to file a bit of the actuator bracket on the 20G as it fouled on the 90 deg union at no.3 cylinder. It wasnt much and doesnt affect the actuator bracket but just for info.
