Potential New Car - Thoughts Please

Hi All,

Looking at buying a run around and have the one below in mind, really like the car, but the wheels I am not too keen on. If anyone can do some wizardry and magic some pics of the car with good rims it would be much appreiated, looking to keep them gold, up to 18" and as close to a rally look as possible.

Below the ad is a copy of e-mails I have sent him regarding the power and how this is possible if it has standard injectors and turbo.

The add for the car reads as follows;

IT HAS A NEW BLUEPRINT RED TOP ENGINE FITTED (BEST OF THE BEST) RUNNING AT JUST OVER 400BHP, AND ALSO A NEW LOW RATIO GEAR BOX BOTH FITTED ABOUT 15000 MILES AGO.

IT HAS ONLY HAD 2 OWNERS FROM NEW, AND YOU CAN BE ASSURED THAT THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN RACED, RALLYED OR ABUSED IN ANY WAY!

AS YOU CAN SEE THIS CAR HAS HUGE SPEC, THE ENGINE HAS ALSO BEEN TUNED BUT I DON'T KNOW THE SPECIFICS. IT ALSO INCLUDES ELEC WINDOWS, ELEC FOLADBLE MIRRORS, CENTRAL LOCKING AND AIR CONDITIONING.

MY IMPREZA IS ABSOLUTALY IMMACULATE INSIDE AND OUT, THE EXTERIOR IS IN 555 BLUE, THE ONLY COLOUR THEY MADE THIS CAR IN. THE BODYWORK IS IN A1 CONDITION WITH NO DENTS OR SCUFFS, HOWEVER THERE IS 1 VERY SMALL SCRATCH ON THE FRONT BUMPER THAT IS NOT NOTICABLE.

THE VINYLS CAN BE EASLY REMOVED WITH OUT DAMAGE!!

THE INTERIOR IS ALSO IN SHOWROOM CONDITION WITH NO SCAGS OR SCUFFS ON THE SEATS OR ANYWHERE ELSE.

THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN SMOKED IN!!

IT HAS ONLY 82000 MILES ON THE CLOCK MOST OF THEM BEING KILOMETERS.

I ALWAYS CHANGE THE OIL WITHOUT FAIL EVERY 1500 MILES OR EVERY 3 MONTHS WHICH EVER COMES FIRST, I ONLY USE MOBIL 1 FULLY SYNTHETIC OILS. GEAR BOX OIL AND DIFF OILS ARE CHANGED ON EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE USING MOBIL 1 FULLY SYNTHETIC GEAR OIL. WHEN DUE FOR A THIRD OIL CHANGE (4500 MILES) I HAVE A FULL SERVICE DONE.

I ONLY USE SUPER UNLEADED FUEL AND NEVER LET IT RUN UNDER A QUATER OF A TANK.

THERE IS NO KNOWN FAULTS WITH THIS CAR, APART FROM MY BLITZ AFTER MARKET WATER TEMP GAUGE IT LIGHTS UP BUT ONLY WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO, POSSIBLE LOOSE CONECTION OR SOMTHING I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET THIS SORTED FOR THE WINNER BY THE TIME THIS AUCTION ENDS, THATS ALL THAT NEEDS DOING.

COMES WITH SOME SPARE BITS AND PIECES THAT I HAVE FOR IT INCLUDES THE 3 ORIGINAL BONNET VENTS.

Been coresponding with the guy that has the car on this thread and asking about the power and what was done to the engine and ecu to get over 400bhp, below is a copy of my question and also a copy of his answer - does it add up??? Sounds a good deal as a smidge under £5k.

Can you contact the performance shop and find out, or give me their number and I will call them to get the detail. Very interested if the figures and parts add up. It's just with a standard turbo and injectors the 400bhp that is claimed is almost impossible - not to mention the major stress on the components if they have managed it - ready to go bang if you know what I mean!!!

His Answer,

hi, ive spoken to john the machanic that done the job he says the only original equipment is the sti cam shafts and ecu that has been remaped by autotechnics, it has forged oversized pistons and rods, nitrated crank, mag valves and rebored, rollerbearing turbo.

The car is under warrenty untill jan 2010 but unsure if its transferable.

What do you think all???

I'd want a RR print out to prove the bhp.

He doesnt know what kind of turbo is on it.

400 bhp (if it is) on classic sti top mount would surely have high intake temps

Looks clean enough but big scoop on classic doesnt look right

LOL.....maybe I'm wrong but I ain't convinced.......what the hell is an XXL scoop LOL.........

If that intercooler is strandard then no way is it making that power......... kev from scoobyclinic has a top mount on his 22b and hes pushing 451 bhp...but its a lot thicker than that.......suppose a lot of work is normally tucked away inside....but sti intercoolers I don't think so

I'd ask loads of questions....why a triple plate on just 400bhp??????

What gearbox is it if its good for 170mph?????

and breif him up that not all other imprezas are made of heavy steel LOOOOOOOOOOL

I think everyone is thinking the same as me - he's talking pish!!!! I have resigned this one to the bin, but to keep my options open is these anyone else out there with a good type r or ra that wants to sell - post your finds here!!!!

Ok I get the hint, the above car is now asigned to the bin and we move forward - no more comments about said car - I maybe got carried away with the bhp figures - true or not!!!!! Sensible suggestions only from now on - not too sensible clearly!
