Cars Skittish Over Bumps.

Car feels a little unsettled going over bumps etc. I'm wondering if the 4 knocking shocks(getting fixed once they turn up on warrenty 4 week backlog) that I have are causing this?

Or is it something more fundamental with the set up?

It's a 56plate Sti.

going by my digi pressure guage not sure how accurate it is as its a few years old. f 32.5 r 28. I must hang my head in shame as it's the first time i've checked since i got the car.

I guess the knacked shocks might not be helping...

Regarding tyre pressures - I would normally associate 'skittishness' with over-inflated tyres, which is odd because with those figures yours certainly aren't over-inflated.

Does it tramline at all, or seem to get sucked into ruts in the road? I was getting a lot of that during the winter before I pumped mine up a bit - now running 35psi front and 33psi rear. Still seeing some premature edge wear on the front, mind (geo setup is 'standard straight ahead').

the new shocks will make a big difference mate, and make sure the geometrys done properly-ive had some well dodgy setups from dealers before...

ive a set of prodrive springs i think would fit yours if your interested.... :P

It's T&C that are doing them and they have a pretty good geo set up at the porsche workshop. I am thinking of asking them to set it to the prodrive settings when they do the Geo on her.

How far does the prodrive springs drop her as I need to be carefull or the car would bottom out coming into my drive.

yep she does tram line a fair bit.

That could be the Potenza REO-70s you probably have on the car.. do you?

Also won't help the skittish-ness over bumps because the sidewalls are so stiff...

yep it's the re 07's that she has on. they will be getting changed to eagle F1' at the earliest oppertunity once the rears are down to or close tot he limit.
