Strange Problem.

Went to overtake a van the other day. Was in 4th, car came on full boost for a few seconds then died. Engine cut and i rolled to a nice stop after overtaking the van with without the engine running. Tried to restart car for approx next 30mins and it would try to start, but would run at about 100rpm for a few seconds then die. Like it was trying to fire up but as you can imagine at 100rpm the engine doesn't like it. Shaking and stuff as running too slow. Would cut after a few seconds. After waiting another 20mins i got a tow back home. Car wouldn't start at the house either.

Left it till the next day and car started fine?? Runs fine the now although not tried full boost yet. Had it up to about half a bar prob.

The boost when overtaking the van was recorded at 1.3bar on defis and that's what the car is mapped for.

Felt like the safety cut due to overboost but that wouldn't kill the car for a day eh even forgetting that the boost wasn't high. Also felt the same as the time when my hose blew off the recirc dump v/v which also affected the car running but cant see anything obvious under the bonnet, and its running ok now?

Phew long post.. anyone have any idea what could cause this? Elec problem? Something sticking open? Can the dump v/vs get over powered and stick?

Starting to look at diesels on autotrader again due to car p%ssing me off again and i dont want to sell it!!

Car is a P1. 2.5 block. Exhaust/filter/fmic/walbro/remap.

could be alarm/fuel relay, next time it happens listen out for fuel pump on ignition.

i was driving home from glasgow and car died in fast lane would try and start but not run, after 10 mins car started and drove home.

thought it was fuel pump blocked so took it out and cleaned the filter bag and thought that was it, had no problems for a month

the second time was coming home from inverness and car died pulled over and it started no problems and came home

the next morning i left car running for an hour with heaters on full as i suspected something elec was overheating and cutting out as this happened before in a corrado with a broken fuel relay

turned car off and it would'nt start again, fuel pump was not working. tested relay and it was working as the power was going to alarm but not coming out alarm and going to fuel pump.

contacted sigma sam in tech section and he said a few people have had this problem in classic's with the m30 alarm.

if the walbro fuel pump draws too much power due to blockage it can short conections in the alarm.

i wired direct from fuel replay to fuel pump and my problem is sorted.......must remember to get it fixed though

I had that kinda problem before. Think i may have tried to give you advice at the time? I had a faulty fuel relay months ago.

What gets me this time is that is was after hitting full boost for a second..then the car would start but try to run at about 100rpm? Made no difference if touched the throttle. Interesting about the alarm though.
