granby Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 Cars having the engine pulled out next week so should hopefully find out the extent of the damage
kentperformance Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Cars having the engine pulled out next week so should hopefully find out the extent of the damage You know that you will repair it! If it's just a damaged piston and the bore is ok, then surely that is not enough for you to scrap all your hard work and not to mention money?
granby Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Well got the engine out today (a big THANK YOU to C.J. & Eureka) and i'm afraid its bad news think i will let the photos do the talking
kentperformance Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I've seen worse than that, much worse, and they have been repaired. Have you measured the bore?, as in the picture it doesn't look too bad. Obviously I can't see for sure, but if it cleaned up with a hone, it would just be a case of a replacement piston. Worse case, a rebore and new pistons. You know that you will do it!

The block was bored out to 92.5mm, dont have anything to measure the bore now
kentperformance Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 The block was bored out to 92.5mm, dont have anything to measure the bore now I see, sorry I didn't know the block had already been bored. I can understand the cost implications now. I hope you get it sorted without too much wallet pain!
bobsta Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Sory mate hope you can get it sorted with out lots of £££
granby Posted April 17, 2010 Author Posted April 17, 2010 Well guys i've made my decision.............i'm breaking the car Its been sitting outside my house for a month now and i have zero enthusiasm to fix it If anyone wants anything keep a lookout in the for sale section or PM me
prodrive tony Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Guted mate, seems breaking these cars is the best for ££££'s. Would be a shame mate.
granby Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 Well i might as well bring this thread to a end, the wagon is in bits apart from the bodyshell & 90% of the bits are sold Got my new car now which i'm very happy with but i've gone sensible as i've bought a Vauxhall.............................................Monaro 6 litre V8 (452bhp & 466ft lbs)
