TPS_SCOOBY_2 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I'm fortunate I can see my car (08 WRX) from my front window, unfortunately I have to park it on the street, when it 1st arrived the attention was unbelievable seemed like every tom, dick and harry came for a neb, then it dissipated now I have fitted 18" gold Innovit alloys with 35 profile F1's and the attention has increased to the point where other cars are peeping their horn to move on the onlookers. But more concerning I have now become aware of at least 3 cars that have stopped disembarked at least 3 passengers and walked around the car, all looking appreciative, but getting out of total ****e heaps ie old golfs, astras and mazdas, the local boy racers always give the thumbs up. Question being do you approach the closer viewers with fear of retaliation or sit tight? Bearing in mind I'm very close to Edinburgh and have a wife and 2 kids and the idea of a house break for keys is really concerning.
mick67 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 just sit tight mate. they could proberly only dream of owning a scooby, so let them have there fun. they'll get bored in no time.
StrikE Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I wouldn't worry too much, it can be hard sometimes spotting a ned & most people will look at a nice car, i find myself having a peak at nice motors, especially Subarus. Just do not leave your keys any place remotely near the car when out.
sti_steve Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 This must be a good thing living in a new built flat. Underground parking and then the added advantage of people not knowing what flat you went into if they wanted to steel the keys! Try and take it as a compliment but it must be hard watching them always thinking the worst.
Richie Cross Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I'm lucky I've got a garage and live away from any big towns but I can understand how you must feel especially with a few Scoobies getting pinched these days. If you worry too much though it might take away the enjoyment of owning the car. Go for the visual deterrents of steering locks etc and as said, make sure any cars aren't visible through the letterbox. And....be chuffed folk want to look at your car!!!
scoobysailor Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 I think (some) people just appreciate nice cars......I was driving along the M8 through Glasgow in slow moving traffic last week. I became aware of a car to the right of me matching my speed, so had wee glance over. It was a Focus full of about five young guys all staring hard over at me/the car. I started to get a wee bit edgy at this time and started looking for escape routes.........Then the two that were sitting at the side closest to me gave me thumbs up and started pointing at the car. Morale of the story........not all wee neds are theiving bar stewards!!
mick67 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 came out the house today to wash the car. 2 of my neighbours came out and both said they saw 3 guys staring into/hanging around the car at 3am this morning. should i be worried?
