Oil Catch Tanks

On my list of things to get before my remap is an oil catch tank. From what i can tell there are 2 main types (recirculating and non recirculating). I have a hawkeye sti and want to know the pros and cons of both types? Where is the best place to locate it in a hawkeye STI.

Any pics of fitted ones would be good.

both do the same job as far as I know... just one vents to atmosphere and one goes back into the throttle body (I think)

I'd say non-recirc would be better as there's absolutely no way of oil getting back in my accident

At any rate, make sure you get a baffled tank to draw more oil out of the air

As standard the pipes return oil vapour into the throttle body to be mixed & burnt in the cylinders during the combustion process. The idea of a catch tank is to draw the oil vapour away from being returned & burnt of by collecting the vapour in the tank. The 2 different versions are a closed tank that requires emptying or one that has a return going to the sump.

it's a bit harder to fit too depending on where you want to pipe it back to.

I had just a catch tank fitted to my last car and it only needed emptied once a month, so it just became part of the monthly car routine
