whisperuk Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 90k Service Done MOT failed on wipers, ball joint cover (only the 5th car I have ever had to fail on it) and emmisions which I kind of knew would happen though was hoping wouldn't I had the cat sections so they are doing it all today and getting it through the MOT That was the good news. The bad news is both front calipers are seized and need replacing, ouch. Though they passed going through on the MOT. So shes in Scooby hospital for another day to get new front calipers on. Little change from £1500 all round but considering the brakes were originals on 122k miles could have been worse. The good news is I am having great fun in my bright blue Yaris, keeping tradition by waving to every Yaris driver I pass and the poor old guy in the identical bright blue yaris I flashed and gave thumbs up to must have thought I was insane. All quiet on the Oxford front at the moment Andy
jonboywrx Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 i know the feeling, my mot just cost £565!! And i still need a new rear diff aswell, all part of the fun i supose jon
stum450n Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Noooo, I've got mine Saturday and I'm yet to have a first time pass! This isn't looking like a good omen! Know she'll fail tbh as the brakes are REALLY low and I can't get them soon enough... 10 day free retest though. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a flashing blue yaris on the way home tonight Andy!
gc8-r Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 good luck stu you wont need it and when she comes out of hospital andy she will feel like a new car emission must have been my fault (cleaning your b/box)

andyjudge Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Yikes that was a tad on the expensive side Andy. Are you getting New Callipers or Refurbed ? I'm sure Godspeed do refurbed 4 pots for about £180 or so

Good luck with getting it all sorted.... Yeah I blame Chris on the emmisions, that shiny exhaust he left me with ruined it all. I could have got others to do it cheaper I know but to be honest, I didnt wanna risk it cos didnt wanna ruin my red pads nor risk when they may fail, and was doing BigD a favor as far as Cotswolds go so just biting it this time. Besides it was my Birthday yesterday and I got Metallica Concert tonight so whatever Andy

I got them to sort the service/brakes etc on mine and was really impressed, my Bug feels lovely Metallica!!!!! Awesome... Yeah they are doing all the work, Metallica rox, cant wait one of the only bands in my earlier rock years that I never got to see in concert so this is going to be ACE!!!
gc8-r Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 HAPPY BIRTHDAY for the other day mate........ and anyone that has mot coming up (dont clean the b/box) well you can just dont let me do it
stum450n Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Bugger! I've been trying to say happy birthday to each of the members in a separate topic... sorry mate, must've missed yours! Hope you had a good one! Enjoy Metallica!
stum450n Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Andy mate, had my MOT today (surprisingly she passed even with the shot pads, low discs and headlight bulb gone ) but I had it done at Old Mill Motors down in Crawley... they said that they do the MOTs for Cotswold and used to work on some of the Prodrive cars. Just wondering if that's where yours went for her test? Seriously impressed is all I can say...
gc8-r Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 see never clean your backbox and it will pass..... and not letting me touch it helps fresh mots all round

They had problems getting a front passenger caliper so have instead fitted a new sealing kit to the original and its done the job saving me a few hundred pounds. Then when all was done someone sheared a bolt when putting the down pipe onto turbo ( i think thats it anyways) so have had to wait till today. Am getting very frustrated having to listen to the Yaris all the time I miss my Blitz, its more of a blur...!! Very impressed with Cotswolds communication, keeping me updated all the time and I know the work will be worth it. Despite the expense. Though £30 for a set of wiper blades best make a difference I hope the have polished the entire Exhaust for the cost too Andy

Not seen any sign of her on the bypass
whisperuk Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 stum450n said: So do you have her back now then mate? Not seen any sign of her on the bypass Yo Yeah she's back, I have been away a week so not managed a reply Pretty much happy with her, nice and smooth to drive. Though little concerned with a couple of things brakes feel really hard with new calipers on almost like there are no pads in there They did comment on the brakes being hard from cold but I have driven her out country way and still no signs of softening despite good braking. I am using red stuff pads on the front and bought them for there biting power on road use.... maybe they havnt worn in yet! Also noticed surface rust that appears sometimes on the disks isnt being removed totally after use where as before they would come back clean. confused And the steering still whines when going hard round roundabouts. Unsure if its caused by the low tread on my offside front wheel ( it is just on the 1.6 legal mark.. ) would have thought they would spot that on the service and road test. And they had topped up the fluids. Oh and my blitz has lost alot of burble since the decat system has been put back on after MOT cheers Andy
gc8-r Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 well i bet its good to have her back..... even with the little problems. you'll get it sorted soon mate....
stum450n Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Good you have her back mate, I've found that after a big service it seems almost like I've had to rediscover the car... takes a while to get used to I guess! I would imagine the pads just need some time to bed properly but as you know, Cotswolds are a cracking bunch so if you've any worries at all, I'm sure they'll not have any problem with you giving them a tinkle! Odd about the decat having lost some burble since being refitted though. Sure she still sounds awesome though mate!
scooby-22 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I have just had my car MOT'd where they swapped the exhaust. When i got back i checked the car over to find the exhaust bolts only done up finger tight and it was not on the hanger in the middle. Just a thought to check yours over mate. Marc
