Strange Check Light Too

posted another problem i had with car breaking down but this is unrelated.

anyone else get this?

everytime i drive from glasgow to perth my check engine light pops on a few miles south of perth on the A9 and goes off at the broxden round about. (heading north only) its done this for the 2 years i've owned car.

its coming up as code 22 (knock if i remember)

i only use car as a weekend runner and drive up to skye, fort william around country side very regulary (usually do about 200mile runs) and the check engine light never comes on but always pops on south of perth heading north

coming towards perth last night and my mate asked if it had came on again, i said no then guess what....check engine light popped on

i am starting to think something could be interfering with ecu possibly aerial or something?

The same thing used to happen to me in my old v2 sti. At the same place!! Would do the usual run up to aberdeen every couple of weeks to work and as soon as the car got a few miles from Perth the CEL would come on. EVERY TIME WITHOUT FAIL!! And the same as you only when going north as it never seemed to happen when i was heading south.

I was beginning to think that there must be some sort of interference around the area but if there was, surely the CEL would come on coming south too??

Wonder how many people this happens too?? Thought it was just me.

I have a mate with a classic that will refuse to open if he parks it in a certain parking space at the local station lol

I've hard a few people say Impreza's are really bad for radio bleed and it causing all sorts of problems

We had that on one of the SS runs... IIRC it was a P1 that needed pushed 'out of range' of the mast??

yeah that sounds right. Once the car is moved about 20 feet it starts working fine again!
