ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I am not entirely convinced!!!........... SEE THROUGH TIRES Radical new tire design by Michelin. These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon. The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these. Just think of the impact on existing technology: A. no more air valves... B. no more air compressors at gas stations... C. no more repair kits... D no more flats... Video too - TWEEL
paul555sti Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Cant watch the video just now as i am at work . How does it attach to the rim?
nkwrx Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Had to check it wasn't April 1st......they look pants!
Spaceman Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 they were made a few years ago now actlly seemed to work not to bad as well Grieg
cullenmin Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Aye they look crap, not sure how good they'd be on a race track, think the plastic might just bend and break
mystery machine Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 My 2p: - The benefits are not to be dismissed. - They look gash. I'd certainly be interested in reading about an A/B performance test with conventional tyres! Interesting.
eck Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Why don't they make them light up when you start moving aswell, they do really look sh!t
gus the bus Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Would I put them on my scoob? would I f***
mystery machine Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I guess if they wanted to they might be able to put sidewalls on them (very soft ones with air holes?). Unless there's some benefit to the open design that I'm missing (other than for making it plainly obvious that these things don't require air).

I can't remember what they call it, but it's basically a very long, thin chain that wraps itself around your wheel until it will no longer turn...
mystery machine Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 stinger said: i wouldnt rule them out personally+1I hate punctures.
empty_heed Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 i'd sooner be sick than have them anywere near my car
20kendo Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Would assume they would work, they just look awful, rather use ultraseal for punctures! kenny
gambler Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Look terrible. A track day version could be made very stiff without the problems of going over pressure when hot. Doubt they would get over big brakes though
