Guest CRAIG D Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 What the score with road tax these day. If you dont have any you just get a bollocking and get reported to the dvla which then fine you and back date it from when the car was last taxed?? OR Do you still get fined and 3 points added?? OR is there sumthing else that happens??
terzo neil Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) thought it was 'as long you are pre-booked at the mot station you should be ok' dont think there isnt any points for no tax, but there is 6 points for no insurance Edited January 16, 2009 by Terzo Neil

StewartyBoy Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 3 points for having no Tax and 6 and £150 fine for MOT unless you can prove that your on your way to have a test. A mate at wirk got done last week coming home from Glasgow in the wee small hours. Prat.
nick-21 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Getting caught without displaying your tax disc is a £60 fine, thats it. You may drive to an pre booked MOT centre without tax, cant remember what the rules are if it fails, think it can then only go straight back home or to where its going to get the work done. Why they cant make the whole process a little easier and clearer is beyond me!
irish al Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 As long as you have insurance its ok On the DVLA site it says: Driving an untaxed vehicle to an MOT test You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station provided you have adequate insurance cover in place for the use of that vehicle. This also applies to vehicles being driven to and from a prearranged test at a Vehicle Inspection Check (VIC) test station, an approved weight testing station and reduced pollution test. Al
nick-21 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 This is where im sure many people arnt covered. Many insurance policies need a valid MOT inplace, and some say road worthy vehicle, what classes a road worthy vehicle, is that not an MOT?????
mystery machine Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 If you are caught driving sans valid tax disc, they are legally entitled to impound your mother and crush your dog.
emoe Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Impretty sure thatuntaxed vehicles NOT booked in to a pre-MOT face a fine and POSSIBLE destruction of the vehicle depending on the circumstaces. Obviously, if youre caught a couple of weeks out of Tax, there should be some leniency. If youre months out, i do believe the Law states they have the right to seize the vehicle, and DVLA are allowed to crush.
