rallyfever Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Why did the thread title change from gathering to homecoming To be honest it was as the guys last year had the McRae Gathering and I didn't want to take anything away from that, I wanted to have this totally different and ensure that the McRae Gathering goes down as the best Gathering to ever take place. Also, it's the year of the Scottish Homecoming so it all fitted it quite nicely. Cheers Gary
rallyfever Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 Sunday 8th March Hi Zeolite, Can you post full details of the marshalls training event here as I would like as many people who have not marshalled before to be there if they felt they could do with a wee insight before the Jim Clark. Cheers Gary
tallmansand Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 gary, what about trying to organise a mini meet 3 or 4 weeks bfore and have a run over some of the stages, just 2 give us folks a chance to see what the drivers have to cope with?
rallyfever Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 gary, what about trying to organise a mini meet 3 or 4 weeks bfore and have a run over some of the stages, just 2 give us folks a chance to see what the drivers have to cope with? Hi Sandy, Sounds good to me fella, I have done most of the stages a few times and would be glad to have a run over the roads to show how fast and tight some of the orads are on the Clark. Cheers Gary
rallyfever Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) Hi All, Met with Colin Pagan (Jim Clark Rally manager) this evening and had a productive meeting, the good news is that it looks as if we can work together to help promote the SIDC and Jim Clark Rally. The things we discussed were as follows; SIDC promoting the rally on the SIDC website Jim Clark Rally promoting the SIDC on the rally website SIDC members marshalling stages on the event, this could include Friday Saturday, or Sunday - maybe all 3 if we have enough people A display of Subaru's in Kelso and Duns, depending on numbers we could do both SIDC trailer on site in Kelso and Duns to promote the club Colin is going to have a think to see if he can come up with anything else that he we could do on the big rally weekend. We have contacted Phil at SIDC to see what he thinks we could do to help over the weekend and John McBay will keep you up to date with this. The exciting news for all Motorsport fans is that the thing we all hoped would get signed off - has been!!! A Super Special Spectator stage will run through the town centre of Duns on Friday night, and again on Saturday. There is expected to be around 3,000 rally fans packed into the Market Square to watch the cars roar through the streets at an estimated 100mph - the 30mph usual rules do not apply!!! John and I will keep you all up to date with our progress, but if you have any ideas that you feel will make this an even better weekend please leave your thoughts here. Also if you wish to attend the weekend please leave your names here. Many thanks Gary & John Edited January 20, 2009 by rallyfever

rallyfever Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) IT's OFFICIAL!!!!! JIM CLARK RALLY TAKES TO THE STREETS The 2009 Jim Clark Rally will for the first time feature a competitive street stage. The organisers are pleased to confirm that plans for a super special stage to be run in the centre of Duns are well underway. With the co-operation of the people of the town paramount, the route of the proposed stage was recently unveiled at a public meeting. The county town of Berwickshire, Duns sits in the heartland of the Jim Clark Rally, which this year takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend of 22nd to 24th May. Mainland Britains only closed public road rally, the Jim Clark will once again see competition take place over a number of testing special stages set throughout rural Berwickshire. But, on the Friday and Saturday legs of the rally, selected streets in Duns will also thunder to the sound of high powered rally cars. The Jim Clark International Rally will visit the stage three times during the Friday and Saturday, and plans are in hand for the super special to form the central part of a motor sport heritage show. Jim Clark Rally Manager Colin Pagan said: Its great that we're able to bring exciting special stage rallying right into the heart of Duns - very much the spiritual home of the event, and just a few miles away from where Jim Clark farmed before going on to become World Motor Racing Champion. We also hope that this will form the centre of a motor sport and Jim Clark heritage show. Whether you're from Duns, a visiting rally fan or a competitor, we're sure this will be an exciting spectacle which can only help to further enhance the reputation of this great event.
