Alright,

Just thought I would stick a post up in here since I'm new.

Recently bought a White 97 Sti 4 Type R, has a couple of goodies on it, relatively low mileage and plenty of history.

Haven't had a chance to take any photos but once I have I'll post up a couple.

Has a couple of daft wee things that I need to fix - ****ed drivers electric window, apexi boost and oil presure gauges not hooked up, couple of interior lights not working, bulb behind the dash not working, etc. Will no doubt have a couple of questions in the tech section soon!

Will try and make the next Glasgow meet, just missed it this month!

I bought the car from a boy in Greenock. It doesn't have white wheels, has some gold subaru wheels on it. I quite fancy a set of white wheels but the gold ones don't bother me so I'd rather spend money tuning it! :P

As I say I will post up some pictures this weekend :)

Good choice of car. :crying:

Bit of advice check your boost hoses are ok. Couple of car that age have had cracked or broken pipes and it's fun for a wee while until the engine goes bang. ;)

Always fancied a white type r, couldn't believe I found one for sale so close to home in such good condition.

To be honest, I've not had a proper look under the bonnet. Planning on giving it a good service either this weekend or next. Engine oil and filter, gearbox oil and diff oil - just for piece of mind. Timing belt, pump, etc have all been done recently so I dont need to worry about that. Got recent receipts for leads and spark plugs aswell.

I'll give the boost hoses a good check over but it seems to be boosting well so far, doesnt appear to be any leaks, or any obvious perishing, just monitoring the boost on the apexi power fc.

Anything else I should be looking out for?

Ah thats cool then. The reason i asked was a few months ago i went to see a same spec'd car that had most of the same problems as your 1 but this 1 has been in a hard front end smash and repaired very very badly repaired but am glad its not that 1.

I think its already got a hold of me! Already aiming to get a couple of goodies fitted over Christmas then back up to andy forrest for the mapping.

Think I'm also going to try and get some kind of lessons on the track booked up. Completely different to anything I've driven before. I've found the back end kicks out surprisingly easily!

I know what you mean. get yourself booked on a SIDC trackday next year, plenty of folk there will be happy to give you pointers in driving the car.

I've lost count how much I've spent on my car just in the last month. Group buys are addictive ;)

Welcome to the site, as an ex-Type R owner I recommend watching out for the back end trying to pass you! great cars but can be a handful if your not on the ball!

Ive only had my Type R for a year so im by no means an expert, I didnt even realise what id bought until I went to a meet. I thought the guys were being polite when they were telling me how nice it was how sought after a good low mileage car was.

Mine is like a completely different car since visiting Andy Forrest. Im looking for a newer car now but am finding everything else I drive extremely slow.

Oh and take heed of previous comment about Rear passing you unexpectantly, especially after a power hike.

naa your not alone, picked up a set of second hand EXE TC`s the other day + loads of other things
