Yep good films Granby.

I filmed my second lap from in car but I do not have the software for my panasonic cam corder in my PC. Trouble is it's a newish PC and I cannot find the Panasonic software disc anywhere?

Found out now that I cannot download it so I have to write off the Panasonic and re order the disc !! What a load of b******s.

Can watch it through my TV and it came out ok.

i must say after giving my car the thrashing of its very short life the p1 has totally different handling characteristics to the new agw as would the type r and 22b as the coupe set up balance and chassis is far superior to the new age and the difference in times shows this i think and clv s car is an outstanding piece of kit

i think this shows why all the time attack pros using the impreza use the coupe body and there are no new age in this class

having the plesure of owning both coupe and new age i personally think the coupe is the better car

if you want a demon buy a coupe (p1 type r 22b) if you want a quick cruiser that handles very well get a new age

Good comment Steve (Re the choice for Time Attack cars).

Surely that must be looked at as a statement.

One of my guys has an STI (uk spec) and he wanted me to put it through it's paces, so I did.

I am not putting the new age chassis / body down because I do like them and think that many look really nice, however it was hugely different to drive especially at pace.

The first thing that hit me was how big the car feels. Classics feel so much smaller and tighter to drive.

To get a new age to handle like a P1, Type R or a 22b would cost A LOT of money because the costs would not stop at new suspension.

Clive has your camcorder & computer got a firewire connector on it, if so you don't need any special software as i just used windows movie maker that came with windows xp

very true there clive s8syf s car feels so much smaller when driving and so much more lively in the bends

if i had time again i would defo go the classic coupe only route

Great thread this and a pleasure to meet you all:-

Even better to see that none of you joined the cars I saw wrapped round lamp posts on the M11 roundabout

North Weald we use purposely because the tarmac surface changes so much, infact cones and corners are positioned to force drivers onto different surfaces

it was a real shame the light and temp dropped so quickly

Remember due to temperture few tyres reached optimum grip infact the cars running road rubber with decent tread recorded good times where as if it had been warmer track biased rubber can equal 2 seconds

Also worth noting that some drivers had attended previous days

FYI your handling circuit times

Run 1 Run 2 Run 3 Run 4

Martin (RX8) 1,23 1,21 1,21 1,20 5th

David (WRX) 1,21 1,21 1,20 1,21 =6th

Tim (Evo VIII) 1,19 1,17 1,15 1,14 1st

Ian (WRX) 1,26 1,26 1,24 1,24 8th

Trevor (STI 8) 1,32 1,22 1,23 1,24 7th

Clive (P1) 1,18 1,15 1,15 1,17 2nd

Keith (Evo IX) 1,19 1,17 1,17 1,17 4th

Carl (Evo X) 1,18 1,16 1,17 1,17 3rd

Steve (STI 8) 1,28 1,21 1,21 1,23 =6th

Stick at it all of you have cracking cars all of which you should be proud off

Thanks Ian. Is a "fire wire" the regular USB lead straight into the camcorder ?

I have tried that Ian. No good mate. I know what you mean, some camcorders can work direct through Windows Movie maker but my Panasonic does need the software in my PC.

I now need to contact Panasonic in the US just to order a CD !.

What I am going to do is just buy another camcorder that uses the same DVDRW and KEEP hold of the CD this time.

Thanks for your help anyway Ian.

Good times for a first timer Clive, :)

Normally run 1.18's in my car, but then I do only have a lot of HOT air :)WHATS THAT SMELL

Thank you Scooby Hoo. I made numerous mistakes on every lap though.

There was an easy 1:12 in the car if not more, and that was echoed by one of the instructors who drove my car.

thanks for all the great info, i must admit i do love the look of the new ages, but if in the future i change my car, i think i will go for a p1 or type r, 22b next time, i went for a type r when i was buying my 3rd scoobie, but it was sold same day i got there, gutted!!

The figure of 8 wasn't in the video :P

Well I was still :D , so I would probable have died in the figure of 8. :):P

Looks like a KIT CAR day.

I would be interested to know how fast one of the Instructors could :) take it round the course, to see how it compares with Scoobies.
