G.Mac Posted December 7, 2008 Author Posted December 7, 2008 Well after 24hrs 40 min, 919.7 miles, a trip to Powerstation for a look about and to buy 2 new tyres, a wander round the service area and a cup of tea in the SWRT private hospitality area and a bloody good time watching the cars at the special stage in the Millenium Stadium im home I forgot to take a load of pics (sorry) but did get a vid of Petter and one of Rossy driving the special stage which I will upload tomorrow when I wake up Great day out and we met up with Empty Heed and co down there Graeme
RA Dunk Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 i heard Chris Atkinson had a smashing time as well

the squiggle Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Bloody great day down in South Wales Huge thanks to the G of the Mac for the stress free trip down and back in the uber STI barge. Only stressfull parts were the parting of £20 for 2 distinctly dodgy basic breakfasts at Frankly Services and the finding of a parking space for 2 cars near the Millenium Stadium (Thanks Kwikfit).
empty_heed Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 quality weekend cheers g.mac & grant for good banter through out the day & for the company driving up the road. it's my first road trip when my wipers froze, this was somewhat confusing for a short period of time waved off g.mac & grant just before paisley & carried on for the last 70 miles off the 1000miles + trip. was met off loch lomand side at tarbet by two of strathclydes finest. it was a random stop check very brief chat & off we went. i think they were looking for boozed drivers. had a few reaction testing moments with deer & ice after before home. now i've had a healthy sleep & a munch that could feed a small army. watched the rallying on dave & now it's top gear time to top off a great weekend
G.Mac Posted December 7, 2008 Author Posted December 7, 2008 yea playing leapfrog every 25 / 20 miles def seemed to make the journey go a bit quicker on the way back up the road, looking forward to next year where we will have to make a full weekend of it as 1 day is a bit much as I feel like crap today....lol graeme
empty_heed Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 heres my very few pics. my video to big for youtube so i'll edited & a link up eventually.
spooks Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 We had an absolute blast, left the house at midnight Wednesday eve and getting there safely enough in the am just in time for the shakedown. We never slept for around 38-39 hours...... Tell me why do we do this again? Saw the shakedown then the service park and then off to cardiff for the opening ceromony. Day 1 off the rally saw us at Sweet lamb 1 and 2, Hirvonnen rolling directly in front of me. This was our first experiance of a competitive WRC stage and geez you can never appreciate the outright speed of these things from the TV you have to see them in the flesh. the weather was horrid, but we didnt mind one bit Day 2 saw us at Halfway and resolfen, better weather with stunning scenery and speeds that defied belief again. Cardiff Super special ...... the noise, oh how sweet was the noise in there, but sorry totaly Mikey Mouse stage. Day 3 we managed to see Rheola and Port Talbot before getting some well deserved sleep and food. Overall managed to meet some amazing rally fans, everyone having a blast. Travelled 1500 miles, used 4 tanks of fuel ... not bad in a golf... and loved every second. Roll on the scottish championship and the Snowman in Feb

spooks Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Still loading my pics into the PC so barely PP'd any but thought I would post a few from Thursdays shakedown and service park.
st3ph3n Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 That first one is outstanding Scott. 11 out of 10 mate. Also - Rossi on the super special. That man is a complete legend. I wish I was that good on 4 wheels or 2, never mind both. Maybe Gordon Brown should get him to look over the accounts and see if he can do anything with them?
marky.t.s Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 top pics Scott ,i like no.2 best with the stones flying everywhere!
