Pressure Relief Valve?

Recommended Posts

Where is it? I think that's my first port of call in diagnosing my high oil pressure issues. Coming home today after work my gauge was off the scale at 100+. Stayed there when driving till the car got a bit warmer and it fell to about 80 - it seems to be idling at about 60. The garage I got the fill up in said there may be oil leaking down to the clutch plate so it could be the rear crank seal or something (sorry, I do computers, not cars!).

How could I check my gauge (Racetech 52mm one)? (Not sure if it is electrical or mechanical - I'll have a look)

How can I check Oil pressure without that gauge?

Also, if clutch plates get oil on them could it cause them to not operate correctly and make the clutch feel as if it was on its way out? It has always had a high bite point but I was told recently it's needing replaced - thing is I don't think it is that old - it's an Exedy organic one fitted by the previous owner and I know the car was not ragged by him.

TIA for any ideas

this screws in the place of orginal oil switch, 10 minte job

if oil was going onto clutch, you would be smelling it and leaving a trail of oil on your usuual parking place all the time

thx for the info m8

I really need to take the car to work as the wife needs the Scenic for the nursery/playgroup runs! I have just been taking it easy but that's boring in a 300bhp car :D Anything I can watch out for to get signs of the pressure being too high? Should I see anything under the car if I jack it up and look around after a run?
