This car is costing me a small fortune, in bad need of 4 tyres can any one recomend a decent tyre, was going to go for some eagle F1's but if any one can advise a better alternative for similar cash. 4 F1's are running at £308 but cant remember if that before the dredded VAT :D . If there is a cheaper alternative i would love to know.

Many thanks

damn that is very cheap, or you could buy a set of rim like i did, just been powder coated, never fitted to the car with min 5mm rubber for £200! If you want 17's i might be able to sell you some lol

but as pointed out, if you are getting them for that money........................................share the secret then! lol

I should clear up any confusion by what I said 'on the cheap', they can be as cheap a some internet sites that just deliver. All depends what tyre and size.

I usually go for Toyo t1r but last time tyre change came round I didn't have the £400 needed lol so I had a look around and got Nankang Ultra Sport, £50 each including fitting and balancing. They perform the same as the Toyo, good grip in both wet and dry - in fact better grip in some cases than the Toyo, so I'm happy with them and will get them again when needed.

Can't go wrong with F1's and that seems a very good price if it includes vat, fitting etc

These cars will always cost you a bomb to run but the smile on your face that you get from driving them is worth is (99% of the time) just don't skimp on the tyres as thats the only thing between you & the road

never a truer word said!! Best suspension and brakes in the world come down to those little black bits on each corner, without them, you'll be tree hugging in no time! lol

I found a Tyre guy in Strood that runs a skyline for drifting... he sells and rates Vredestines...

I know a few Street sorry Track Drifters and he has been selling them to these guys as the front tyres setup on all the drift cars... he says nothing else seems to stick like these babies... when I said I was looking at toyo t1-r and yoko paradas he laughed...... and I wasnt impressed with the f1's i had on mine the Toyo T1-r's I got were better

Vredesteins maybe worth a look and he has convinced me to try them out when i need a change, will try n find out the specific model when i get 5.

Try camskill, i believe 4 ti-r's (17's) were £270 delivered. Obviously you need to get them fitted, but should be able to find somewhere to do it for about £15 a tyre.

Another shout for rm tyres from me. I was being quoted about £650-700 for four tyres, that's including our special discount rate sir, yeah right!!! RM came up with £396! Happy with that, been using them for about 5 years now

When I bought my Scoob it had a full set of Marangoni Zetas, which I'd never heard of (but have latterly come to know are a "budget" brand). When I needed to replace the rears I was recommended to put on Toyo TR-1s as the closest equivalent to the recommended premium tyre (and I know lots of people here have them) which I did. The handling has never been quite the same since. Maybe the super grippy rears are pushing the front out of shape or maybe the Proxes are struggling to match the Zetas, but either way, I found the handling on a full set of Zetas to be pretty damn good. Certainly got me out of a few bum clenching situations while I was learning the limits of my car (or more realistically me  ). Utterly dismal in the snow, but then all summer tyres are.

In terms of places to buy tyres, Rez down at Bower Lane Tyres in Maidstone has always seen me right. Proper back street tyre fitter - no luxuries but you get the tyres you want at a decent price. I even went there once having ordered a specific set of Eagles for the Golf and their suppliers brought them the wrong ones which they then fitted. I thought the tread looked odd when I picked up the car but only double checked when I got home. Rang them, they said "Very sorry, keep them for a week and we'll put the proper ones on next Saturday. Don't thrash them." And I didn't. Why would I, a free set of tyres to be replaced within a week? ;) But seriously, I didn't because it was such a nice gesture. Honestly Rez, I didn't!
