granby
Last year i had a service done by Xtreme Scoobies, i have a big sump that takes 6.5 litres instead of the normal 4.5 and while i've never had any problems with them before it wasn't until about a week later that i checked the oil and noticed it was very low, had a check for leaks but there wasn't any so i topped the oil up with some that i already had got from the Oilman, phoned Xtreme and they insisted that they put in the full amount of oil but could i keep a check on it to see if it goes down again which it didn't, i didn't take this any further as i know mistakes can happen so just left it at that. As some of you know i had some work done on my car by Xtreme because of a broken nut in the chassis rail (my fault), went under the car today to check a few things and found the 2 nuts (in the pic below) had not been tightened onto the stud that goes into the diff housing as they were just screwed onto the end of the studs and this was done by them as they had to drop the diff down, i was able to tighten the nuts up and so once again i phoned Xtreme and naturally i got a apology but to me they didn't seem too bothered, as you can imagine i wasn't very happy about all this and it doesn't inspire confidence that they have done the rest of the job properly or will do on any other work but i don't think that will be a option as i don't feel i will be using them again. So the odd bolt is missing or not done up tight, it's only your life and anybody else you might HIT At your age you should know that the all person who does a job 110% is you. If you don't do bolts yourself then be around and watch. I can't understand wot you're on about, I thought you drove a London Bus, I bet they have a few bolts missing. But on a more serious note Xtreme did not impress me when I payed them a visit with a view to them fitting my ppp springs. So I done it myself. I did have a box of bits left over so I chucked them in the dustbin, is that a funny noise I hear? Lucky you had Deano around Edited October 4, 2008 by Granby Link to comment

fudge
Should have used RCM Ian. People say that RCM are too expensive?, ok their own parts may be, but the quality is there. I am not sure if I mentioned to you, but my wife smashed the rear window of her TT (soft top). Shopping in back and used the electric hood !! smashed the glass..... anyway, Audi of Tonbridge want £ 850.00 for the soft top and £ 120.00 per hour. They said they had only fitted one roof previous and that took the fitter 15 hours !!. I said "what was he a f*****g kitchen fitter"? £ 2,650.00 for a soft top ! Back to the point, RCM are £ 45.00 per hour. That certainly is not expensive for the quality of service. A couple of weeks back I had all new brakes. Collected my car and last thing Olly said to me was, "don't forget your old brakes are in the boot mate". Pulled in a motorway service after about 50 miles and opened the boot. They had bubble wrapped the entire boot. Boxed up the old brakes in the boxes the new brakes came in, and taped every joint on every box. They are how the rest should be. Link to comment

phil
I have contacted Xtreme who asked me to post the following “It’s always disappointing to receive feedback like this especially when Xtreme as a garage prides itself on honesty, commitment to the customer & attention to detail. Xtreme have serviced this particular car since 2005, with a minimum of 15 services or visits to us. Whilst, there is no excuse to have nuts only “finger tight” on the diff housing unit. The diff unit was securely held in place with, 6 upright bolts & the prop shaft in situ, there was never any eventuality of the diff being able to move from its current location & causing any issue. At the time of fitment, the additional spacing joints that had been attempted to be put in place created additional load, which in turn needed an additional person to assist in the fitting of the diff. As for comments of not seeming bothered, when you have children, family, bills, mortgages & food to pay for – all coming from a business that is very much in the public eye & all so easily posted on internet forums around the World in minutes. As individuals in the business, of course, we understand the impact this can have on us & that is why so much time is spent on ensuring each & every car leaves here with a clean bill of health. In the last 6 years of business over 6500 services have been carried out, with no issues & only positives comments – something that a “care free garage” could never hope to achieve.” Knowlsey is also going to try and contact Ian directly I am going to lock this thread now Link to comment
granby
Just to keep everyone updated on this i did receive a letter from Xtreme today wholeheartedly apologising for the mistake, they are also going to look into improving their final check procedure to make sure nothing like this will happen again. Thank you Knowlesy for taking the time to responed to this thread and contacting me by letter and i understand mistakes do happen which i accept but at this present moment in time i feel i will not be using Xtreme again or recommending them.
