Town & County - Keep Up The Good Work...

I recently part-ex'd my 03-GX Sport for an 04 WRX. Having read the post regarding the "Town & County" deals which were brought about by Craig, I decided to do the unusual thing of going to the "Main Dealer"....

Firstly, I had problems with my keys - program issues - and a HUGE thanks to Kev for the time, effort, expertise, and for the explainations - fantastic service B)

Secondly, I am looking to upgrade the ICE - as I am sure you all know already the standard system sound is PANTS..... I had seen the single DIN cubby-hole on eBay with 2 versions - with a lid, and without... (I wanted the one with the lid) - I again went to T&C and they had the one I wanted in-stock and it was CHEAPER than eBay..... I didn't have the heart to produce my SIDC card and request 10% off on such an "already great deal" - so again - Thanks T&C...

Keep up the good work lads, and I hope many more members start/continue to use T&C....

Yeah sorry to hear that, it seems to be fairly inconsistent, I know quite a few people that get really good service from them, but then theres also a lot of people that tell me stories how the service was really not up to scratch...

I think that I am on of the lucky ones....

wish I could say the same - I will never use them again B)

I really begrudge taking my car to them. Too many times have they ripped me off. Kev, however is a good guy, and has helped me out.

I just wish there was a main dealer closer to me, hence why I've enquired before about anyones dealings with Aird Motors in Beauly.

There are a couple of helpful people at T&C however the most of them are not even worth speaking too - I would rather drive 200miles than take the car there, I see you are from Dundee, have you tried Edan Subaru in Cupar or the new placein the Ferry?

I heard through the grapevine today that T&C are stopping their Subaru franchise - has anyone heard this??

If so, I wonder if they will still service them and honour the deal with the SIDC.

This may be a load of rubbish however - not good if they decide to stop. Hard to believe with such a big marker up in Abz for the marque.

Would seem there's more than a hint of truth to this rumour . . . .

Have used Eden a few times in the past, in fact bought my last STi from them. Not overly impressed with there aftersales service tbh. The only main dealer i've considered myself well happy with, was S&S in Ayr. However, its a hoor of a drive from Lossiemouth to Ayr! I've never heard a bad word spoken about Grieves in Falkirk/Stirling however, and know nothing about John R Weir in Perth.

Unfortunately the only good thing I have to say about T&C is Kev the Head Mechanic who is a top bloke and will bend over backwards to help you out. If he was the only one who worked on the cars it would be a better place, unfortunately the rest of the gang who support him are not in the same league.

Yeah their forecourt has not had many scoobies on it for ages now... they used to have a good selection, but thats since disapeared... In fact I was taking the piss out of them about it the last time that I was in...

Hmmm... so is it worth still using them for a service then? Who else is worth using in the Abz area?

Well the choice kinda goes downhill from there like... they are the only dealer in aberdeen, and beyond that, you are looking at AWD in perth that new place in broughty Ferry or the place in Cupar... I know one member that travels to S&S AYR to get His service done...

I'll probably just stick with them for now personally... although I would have my doubts if they changed away from Subaru...

Yup, I had planned on possibly using Reekies in Forres when the warranty ran out only to find out that the site there has been levelled and they are building something else in it's place so the possibles are reducing all the time up here.

Have used them a few times recently for servicing - so far so good. Charlie (think that's his name) at the servicing desk is always polite, helpful and friendly, and Sandy the mechanic has taken the time to chat with me about the car on a couple of occasions, which I appreciate.

I just hope that if they are giving up the Subaru Franchise, that someone else takes it up...

just as long as its NOT Arnold Clark... or really any of the bigger dealers in Aberdeen, I truely would consider going to Ayr to get my car serviced before letting it anywhere NEAR them...

UPDATE:-

Following the excellent service I got from Kev at the start, I took another BIG step, and booked it in for the 50,000 service (with cambelt). The steering wheel was also slightly off, and I asked for a 4-wheel alignment as well, (NEVER get KwikFit to touch a Subaru.... they don't have a clue !!!!!).

So, off it went - dropped off Monday night for them to work on it on Tuesday. 9am a call from them, rear discs needed (I agreed - I kinda thought so before it went in) and cambelt tensioner (I had been informed this might be needed) so I agreed.....

I had remembered to ask for my SIDC discount when booking in :rotfl: - this reduced the p/h rate from £68 to £45 (as I was told anyway)

So, "in my head" I had estimated a possible bill of up to £1000....... Final bill was £811.26

Personally, having looked over the car, checked oil level, it seems to have been very well done, and overall a good job. - Thanks guys !!!!!!

Now the tiny bits of bad news.........

1 - Light checks are part of the checklist, however it went in with one numberplate light out, and came back the same, so they were not very thorough with the light checks.... (I did it later myself, it was just a bulb change req'd)

2 - As I also have a company car which is a Land Rover I have been a frequent user of T&C Land Rover along the road. Every time I get my car back from them it is gleaming with ultra clean wheels etc. and even the inside sometimes gets a clean...... T&C Subaru obviously don't do this, I know that seems trivial but its really nice to get an ultra-clean car back from a service...

Overall - Good job done IMHO

George you must be mental to let any of them wash your car. Most of these places use some sort of concentrated detergent so kiss goodbye to any wax that you had on the car.

The main dealer who serviced my previous car (wasn't a Scoob), always made a fine job of cleaning my motor - they even once shined-up my alloys, removing the yellow stains from inside the spokes.

But I appreciate what you're saying - not everyone likes someone else putting their hands and chemicals on their paintwork. I used to be quite particular that way myself. In fact, truth be told, I can see me being a bit more fussy about the Scooby than with my previous motor (which I never really liked the look of that much).

Either way, with the price of servicing these days, it's certainly nice at least to be asked

Yeah, its a surprise just how different a service you get considering that they are all part of the same stealership...

dont matter now anyways, as T&C Subaru are no more than a used car lot now... no more dealerships for them... (possibly why they keep the servicing up)
