So am i right in thinking, that any impreza imported now regardless of it being a classic or newage is going to be hit with the £400 per year tax?

As far as i can see, this is gonna be the case! :D

Technically not,my ra was brought in after March 2001 but has no co2 measurement on the V5 so therefore that would suggest that co2 0-100g/km will be £0 to tax.Because the band rating is going to be emmisions based what do they do if the car comes into the country after 2001 and you have recieved your V5 without any co2 marked(thus meaning DVLA have no data on there database)

This could become interesting!

maybe,maybe not.

If you look at the tables it is clear that it is cars registered in the uk after 1st March 2001,therefore if the car has been registered after this point the new taxation classes apply via the g/km from 2009,therefore if you dont have emmisions on your v5 but the vehicle has been registered after this point then surely you cant pay the pre march 2001 ved which will become £210 in 2009?

If its £210 brilliant, especially when my ra is a 22b type UK on the log book! :D
