dram300 Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Sad to admit that a weekend on the McRae Gathering has given me the bug. Standing at the static displays listening to the cars streaming in was like listen to distant rumbling thunder for 3 hours. Standing in the worlds biggest traffic jam was also sonically spectacular. I WANT MORE BURBLE !!! SO ... HOW DO I GET MORE BURBLE? Running a 2005 WRX with PPP. Don't have a big budget, so full exhaust systems are probably out of the question !!! Don't want an ASBO. Just want a deeper, rumblier baseline !!! (Truth be told, I want more horses, torques, brakes and suspension too ... but you have to start somewhere)
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Get rid of the centre section matey ! The PPP burble is quite nice after that - OR if you want the full monty get a decat...... Ninja backbox, Scoobysport or TSL Group N would also do the trick CGS

Is it gonna cost much? OFF TOPIC: Hows the A4 coming along? Thinking of getting mine in for a bit of chipping. Its either Star Performance or A4Audi. Naturally, it would be intended to improve the fuel economy in this time of high oil prices Edited September 9, 2008 by DRAM300
scooby222 Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 to get a proper deep burble on newages you really need to go full decat, but back box and or centre section will definitely be a big improvement. my advice is to keep one eye on the future if your buying in bits-theres every chance youl end up with a full decat, remap etc. so make sure the bits you get know join up with what your aiming for-i used to have mongoose exhaust on my classic but it was a slip joint rather than bolt together so you couldnt change just one part,ie cat for mot. i do happen to have a tsl firestorm backbox for sale but its maybe a bit loud? and im planning to jump on the vag chipping too,my a3 2.0 is crying out for more economy... been thinking about the superchip bluefin for easiness
gus the bus Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) I can get Paul to make you a back box and centre section (or just a centre section if you want to try that first?) with a decent (no ASBO) burble low £'s for top quality. PM if interested. all proper standard joints so can be easily added to if you want the sportcat or decat in the future. Straight thru centre section and Ninja style back box (just fitted mine on the classic). Happy to let you hear it on my car first if you like? Gus Edited September 10, 2008 by Gus the Bus
st3ph3n Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I got good burble with a backbox - the H+S Japslash one. Admittedly when I then upgraded the rest of the system it became scary loud. A sensible backbox (possibly the PPP one) and the centre resonator removal would be nice indeed.
scoobymark Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Hayward & scott back box would definately give you enough burble without being too much http://bbs.scoobynet.com/private-sale-gene...-weeks-old.html This one on scoobynet only 3 weeks old, worth 150 quid. mark
Richie Cross Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I've got a MY05 WRX PPP. Kept the Prodrive back box but got the sports cat/decatted downpipe done first which made it sound a bit better. Then got the straight through centre section which improved it again. I like the sound of mine now although it seemed pretty quiet compared to others at the weekend!!! Both bits from Meercat.
dram300 Posted September 11, 2008 Author Posted September 11, 2008 Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. Looks like the common advice is to start with a straight through centre section. Modding here I come
