is the big washer on the right side? check instructions again

Took them off and re-fitted with the car on the deck, swapped the big washer round and tightened up the nuts- looks pretty much the same as before. :laughing4:

Cheers everyone for the advice, think i'll try re-fitting them with the car on the ground and see if it makes any difference.Bought some rear whiteline droplinks as well ,so they should be easier to get to and fit. :laughing4:

tommo here is the answer you req

if you look at a classic bottom steel arm the bracket on it is angled inward and has 2 lugs on it to support the alloy d/link bush.

your sti alloy arm mounting bkt is streight. the d/link you have fitted is under stress at the top on to arb look at your own photos ,this puts the bushes under too much tension and they will fail .you need the rose joint type .the old units if standard were like mini track rod ends to take up the movement between arb and arm .the distance between arb and arm is greater than steel and arb thats why you need the correct type m8 geo

I have the whiteline KLC30(modified) on MY02 STI and so far they have lasted longer than the whiteline KLC39's and the perrin ones.

They were fitted with the wheels on and I have the whiteline arb's too and so far creak free! :laughing4:

The KLC39's lasted about a month before they started creaking and the perrin (most expensive ones) lasted 3-5days before they broke.

When the time comes to replace them again, I may go back to the standard ones.

Hi,

Did someone recommend fitting the KCL 32's to you and does yours look like mine in the picture with stress on the bushes or do they fit better with the whiteline Arb? Cheers for the info :laughing4:

Hi

I was recommended the Klc32's instead of the Klc39's. The Klc39's aren't really any good for our climate(unless you want to clean them everytime you use your scoob).

I couldn't get hold of the Klc32's so I had some Klc3o's modified.

Just had a look at mine and yes maybe they do look a tad stressed, but the scoob handles well, creak free and I haven't heard of the Klc30's or Klc32's failing on the 02 bugs. :headbang:

Tommo i fitted mine the way you did in the above pic & the bush popped out of the link! :headbang:

So i got a new link & put the washer on the other side so the bush couldnt pop out & ive not had any probs since fitting them over a year ago! :laughing4:

Hi mate,

I changed the big washer round(my excuse is i had a hangover) to try and prevent it popping out so i'll see how they go,if they don't last i'll revert back to fitting the standard ones i think, cheers for the info.
