I think your 1k could be better spent elsewhere or at least have a look at some of the £250 options; that's were I got mine.
C_WRX Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) Personally think the older/last style format is more obvious as a private plate (bias opinion perhaps as I have one!!), and usually a lot cheaper cheaper than £1k ! Edited August 22, 2008 by C_WRX
emoe Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 If youre buying from the DVLA website, then thats the cheapest youll get the numbers. All the so called reg transfer places charge more!! i got my number for £250 ALL IN, thats transfer, new MOT doc, tax disc, and Reg document. The number plate was for sale on REG TRANSFERS here in dunstable for £495 PLUS the transfer fees!!!!

gus the bus Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 All 5 plates I have bought have been through DVLA-SOM Why pay more than £250? G, check out the older style plates much better looking IMHO. Gus
G.Mac Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 there are no G MAC plates available on the old system, cant afford a plate the now anyway. (and deff not at a grand) Graeme
emoe Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 lol thats a tidy bit of profit there making off of one reg plate is it they charge a fortune for plates they SAY they have already but actually are purchasing from DVLA when you order!!!! Most of them are rip-off merchants!! If its not for sale on the DVLA website, then its either not available now, or someone is doing a private sale. TBH over here i would not pay more that 250 all in, because the plates are not really personalised anyway. My plate i had in america actually said EMOE and cost $14 per year!!!!

Yeah, but where is the imagination and ingenuity in that? Half of the battle and the fun is trying to find a plate that says something about you or your car while maintaining its original form - using numbers as letter etc.
