emmo
My car seems to be self-destructing. I've gone to my car after work tonight to find a puddle underneath it. Where the fuel filler meets the fuel tank has corroded badly and is leaking. Typically, today was the day I filled the tank!! I've driven the car about to use up the fuel but now need to change the fuel tank. Has anybody got one for a 97 classic? Anybody know how easy they are to change? All help gratefully received!! baser999
Thought I'd got a leak on mine some time ago but luckily Deano666 discovered it was a problem with the fuel pump seal - seem to recollect him saying at the time that replacing the fuel tank could be a right b****d of a job - think he said the rear axle needs dropping as the tank straddles it ?? Sorry . . . Link to comment
Montythegod
thats right the axles diff and carriers have to be dropped to pull the tank I used chewing gum and a fibreglass patch kit as a roadside emergency, I drove over a big piece of flint just outside a petrol station, luckily they sold a fibreglass repair kit for bodywork... It lasted a year ! Link to comment
