pistonbroke2 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 After much deliberation, and chatting to a few of you lot in person the other day. I've decided that a set of lowering springs are needed for my car. I was set on getting a full tein superstreet coilover kit for it but two main reasons have made me change my mind. First reason is cost, the tein stuff will set me back £1000, the second reason is that the ride will be very very harsh, even on the softest setting, I initially thought that this would not bother me, but a trip out in the car a few times over the weekend made me think that an even firmer ride would do nothing but piss me off. I've also read that the tein kit is actually a bit of a budget setup and that the shocks aren't really very good quality. After a few years exposed to road grime and salt in winter, they corrode quite badly. Therefore, a spring kit is needed. I want the ride height dropped quite a bit, I want the top of the tyres to be mm's away from the arches . I've seen a few spring kits but most of them seem to only drop a few mm, and nowhere near the amount I'm after, could anyone recommend a spring that drops the car the most, or better still show me pictures of your slammed scooby to help me decide. Cheers guys
quagmire Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I have AVO springs on my bugeye and it has dropped quite a bit although the ride is still a little on the harsh side.

granby Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Well you know how low eibachs as you've seen my car, i believe the tein springs lower them a bit more than eibachs

pistonbroke2 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 Just seen the Tein pics on another thread, I'm going to get them me thinks Keep coming with the pics though. !
pistonbroke2 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 I like them avo springs too, but they don't do them for the STI. The tein ones say they won't lower the STI as much due to OE suspension setup . I'm just gonna bite the bullet and go for it.
scoobypaul Posted July 29, 2008 Posted July 29, 2008 it all depends what works for you mate, but bear in mind that you've got to get around in the thing aswell as admire it looking low and mean slamming a car looks great but is a nightmare if you've got a splitter, live near crap potholed roads or speedhumps. i remember buying a very low car a few years back, got it home and found i couldn't get on the drive without grounding i've got prodrive springs on mine and it's a happy medium between a bit lower and a nice ride. infact it's better now than stock which was an unexpected bonus! i wouldn't want to go any lower as i've nibbled my carbon splitter already here's how mine looks hope that helps, Paul
pistonbroke2 Posted July 29, 2008 Author Posted July 29, 2008 Cheers Paul, my car has a prodrive front bumper on which has massive ground clearance. I would agree if I has a front end like yours and needed to keep the nose raised but mine desperatly needs to be dropped, it needs to come down more than most just to stop it looking so lanky
