craigdmcd Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Interesting spec, and a very nice list it is. That must be using up some of the inheritance you have just received - or lottery win (delete as appropriate). Couple of questions. Why choose a MD321 over a GT30 (I'm guessing you are going for large boost, so an external wastegate is obviously preferable). What management system are you going use? What sort of shell/year of car is this going in to? Would you not prefer to use a Cosworth large capacity oil pump rather than just a uprated pump? And finally, how much of this stuff have you got, and the stuff you haven't - do you intend to buy new or source from elsewhere? Excellent post to get a discussion going what will work best. Craig.
superstar_tradesman Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Nice list but who is Andy Forrester???????? lol .
johnnyr6 Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 (edited) A couple of things i would consider on the fueling front are bosch 044 pump and -6 fuel lines and an adjustable fpr. I take it you don't want to twist the turbo? What ecu you using? If you havn't already speak to Andy he'll help you on your way. Also chassis mods and sticky tyres to match Johnny Oh also, If your doing the work yourself get a project thread going. Edited July 5, 2008 by JohnnyR6
1/4 M4STER Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 i am thinking autronics ecu the car is a my00 2000 turbo i dont have any parts yet just narrowing them down to what would work best for the power figures i am after this is going to be a painstaking build but i am in no hurry i am going to try and get it right first time regards
RA Dunk Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 i think axis have a problem with the 2.35 blocks nowadays due to the rareness of the 2.2 CDB`s going about, i think if you can source them a 2.0 or a 2.2 CDB and get it shipped to them then they can do it, i looked into this a wee while ago (cats out the bag now lol) ), better to double check though
AlanG Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 i am looking in to building a fast 1/4 mile car here is a list of stuff i am considering any suggestions will be much appreciated looking for 500/500 Sealed together with Cometic head gaskets and ARP studs and bolts - most use studs or bolts. At that level either will do, but most prefer to go studs A Andy Forrester Garrett hybrid turbo MD321T Samco turbo inlet pipe 800cc v-port injectors Uprated spark plus Hybrid FMIC (all pipes wrapped) - no need if intercooler efficient enough Walbro fuel pump - will be on the limit with this pump but will cope for a short time at least, depending on boost used to achieve target horsepower Parrallel fuel mod Cossie fuel pressure regulator Teg sport uprated headers & up-pipe Carl Davey inlet manifold spacers APi baffled sump RCM uprated oil pump RCM oil catch tank, steel braided hose ran back to sump. PPG gearbox (1-2 straight cut, 3-4 helical cut, P1 5th), billet steel selector forks Exedy Twin Plate Hyper clutch with lightweight chromoly flywheel Would suggest looking at suitable suspension also
JohnSt Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I bought a short motor from Axis a few years ago, lasted about half a season for me, let's just say it didn't live up to the claimed Max RPM. Susequently built my own and with some maintenance lasted two full seasons before a fuelling issue killed it. Having researched the subject to death, and taken advice from some very knowledgable people, Pennine Subaru have built my new motor, I'm more than happy with the results so far

A 2.5 will work and with the correct parts can also rev to 8k. Playsatan runs an axis engine, it hasn't been pushed yet as for the 1st year it only ran 410bhp but it's been absolutely fine, now it's got the power it deserves we'll see. obviously it's used firstly as a road car with some quarters and trackdays and not as a competition car by a nutter Alan G (the guy above) built one of the best classics with 500/500 using a 2.5 (iirc) Johnny Edited July 6, 2008 by JohnnyR6
