stubaroo Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Another newbie question. I am about to get a 30,000 mile service carried out on my 2004 WRX. Part of this service is the replacement of the - "spark plugs and filters". (This is not a reference to oil, air or fuel filters). What are spark plug filters? I also see after a small search that some Impreza's don't have HT leads but have individual coil packs, is that right? Whats the set up on a 2004 WRX? Thanks for any enlightenment forthcoming.
colin_ross Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Never heard of spark plug filters. I'm no newage expert but believe that the 04 has coil packs. These are not service items and would only be replace if faulty. Could it be a pollen filter they are referring to?

stubaroo Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 (edited) Any more opinions, welcomed. Surely one of our more knowledgeable/mechanically minded members can shed some light on this one. Spark plugs and filters!! HT leads or coil packs? Edited May 19, 2008 by Stubaroo
RS Grant Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 To be honest mate, I'm not the most technically/mechanically minded person but I've never heard of a filter being mentioned in conjunction with Spark Plugs... I was also think it was an Air Filter, Pollen Filter or Oil Filter that they are talking about, however, the extract you show kinda blows that out the water!! Could always phone Subaru UK Customer Service and get them to clear it up I suppose. Cheers, Grant
