Whistling Noise From My Classic

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Whilst on my way to Aberdeen today heard a 'whistling noise ' coming from my car - I've got a 1999 model classic,at first i thought it was someone behind me with squeaky brakes but heard the noise a few times when cars weren't braking. It's not at regular intervals ,just now and then. The only thing i've done recently was fit a boost hose/guage -checked the hose and its fine and it's not my brakes, seems to be around 1800 - 2200 rpm.Has anyone expierienced this or have any clues to what it may be.

could be so many things. windows sometimes whistle, front decat can add more whistle, worn brake pads can start squeeking when warning clip starts to make contact with disc and like you have mentioned already could very well be slight boost leak. good luck finding it

Hi Euan,

Not managed a meet yet, always been offshore.I work Ad-hoc which means i can get a shout at short notice so it's difficult to say if i'll make it or not.

My P1 used to whistle. It was the wind blowing through a small gap in the door mirror housing. Only noticed it when it was sunny. i.e window down. Doesn't sound like this is the whistle your getting though as you say it only happens at certain revs.
