kheldar Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 ok at the risk of boring most people i found a few pics of wedding and safari in kenya due to a few posts in the big chat thread. it should also piccy God Bailey to stop any confusion between God and Ed oh and everyone should do a safari..... WARNING : none of these pics were taken in a zoo !
Bailey73 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Wow - that look fantastic.... ..I will chat with Sam tomorrow as we need to go there.....Soon. Nice pics mate - those pics are great.
kheldar Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) at the risk of boring people even more i could post another 50. the place is stunning. totally stunning. i will look out a few more later. they dont do it justice cos it looks like just an animal - ie you cannot see the surrounding landscape in many or get the idea of the scale of the place. the one pic is Mt Kilimanjaro. our camp was in the foot of it.... we stayed in this camp under Mt Kili, at the cocodile camp in Tsavo East, in the Masai Mara and one other iirc.. rae_sti Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 cool pics . although i never got that far up when i lived out there .i did get to kruger national park .and as you say the landscape etc is amazing .good to see animals in there real enviroment . kruger national is a park but you can fit england inside of it so there is plenty of room for them to roam etc .
kheldar Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 yeah thats the thing Rae - the size and scale of the place. as you say a 'park' the size of england ! much nicer to see them in their natural habitat. well worth a trip. and there were a couple of children on the safari who really enjoyed it.
glam Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Wow, what an amazing experience buddy & you both look on top of the world! Great pictures, what an awesome place to get married.
Sam B Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Years ago I went to Kenya, stayed at the coast but took trips into Shimba Hills for 2 days and the Kekorock (sp?) Lodge in the Masi Mara, the most amazing place I have ever been. On safari in the Mara we were a small group in an open jeep, (not at all safe in hindsight) a male lion was approaching so one of our group set down his video camera to film it approach and we all moved to a safe distance. The lion picked up the camera and wandered off with it, we had to follow for 15 minutes before he put it down. It was undamaged apart from being smelly, damp and just a bit scratched, the footage was great though.....and the closest I ever want to get to seeing in a lions mouth !
edmondo Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 cracking pics monsieur Kheldar - after seeing you I have nothing to fear
kheldar Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) cheers Glam. it was indeed awesome place to get married. Sam - glad you enojyed it to. we only had one interesting time when our jeep got stuck and we had to get out of the vehicle. we were told to not move far ! and the guys were keeping an eye out on the surrounding bush. Cheers Ed, just call me God indeed you dont, not dodgy looking at all infact I like the 4th pic - i think that was our Day 2 in paradise we did not move out of the room much and had to run like mad to get to the bar ! having said that, after that little rain shower we did not get another drop in 3 weeks ! We went with this specialist company http://www.africansafariclub.com/html/kenya.php booked via a local newton abbot travel agent. we choose the top 5 shield hotel cos we like our creature comforts (lol, as they are in Kenya!) and did a 7 night Best of Kenya Safari. monkip1 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 That looks amazing! Looks liek a wicked day well worth the dosh! Looks like everyone who attended really had a good time also! Makes me want to be adventurous and find my self a lady, get married underwater . . . . . naked hahah Top pics! Monki.
kheldar Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 yeah it was monki. tbh it was not expensive as we were planning a holiday anyway so 'adding' the wedding only cost a couple of hundred or so more ! those Masai dancers who we got to join us for the wedding did not cost us a penny ! must have been 15 or more of them who turned up and played / danced and sang us all the way through the hotel, down past the bar, swimming pool and over to the place they held the wedding. it stopped the whole hotel in its tracks and we go so many other people simply staying there at the time who followed us and watched -and took video and pics of our wedding !
