ive tried to contact the last owner of my Impreza just to ask about the new engine that has been fitted and any other thing's he might like to tell me?

what i have and know so far is ... my car came from Banff, ive got a some bill's for work carried out on my car from "Wallace Performance" (Bridge of Don) and a power flow centre in Turriff. i bought my car from a private trader in Beith who got the car (via a buisness set-up) from a performance centre called sunny hill car's

ive tried to get in touch with the last owner, he's at sea at the moment and he'll be home next week (i have his name and addy)

what do you think, is it a good or bad thing finding out about your car's past?

I would say its a good thing as you can see whats been done and whats not so you can do what ever needs to keep the car up to scratch and it can erase any doubt of whats happened to it. On the other hand it can bring up things you dont want to know so it has good points and bad points. Gut feeling says ??? mine says if there is all proof of who did the work and receiptes and so on i dont think you can go far wrong but always HPI check a car to erase all doubt.

Well Sunnyhill motors... Hmmm yeah... dont tend to have a many actually quality cars... but generally the best dealer in the area, but Ive never used them so I dont really have an opinion on them...

Wallace performance... Again, not used them, but Heard a lot of bad vibes in the past about them... blowing up customers cars and the likes... I'm sure that someone will be about to fly that flag soon... theres a few of the Aberdeen lads that will use them, and are happy with their work, but I suppose like any business... you get the good with the bad...

the Powerflow centre that you mention is called Turriff Tyres... normally good for reproduced wheels and the likes, exhause with I dont know the quality of the work, although I think that there have been bad stories about them, as with any busuness, I can substatiate... again Ive never used them...

End of the day, how does the car run? Are you happy with it?

You can always go to arrange that You trust and get the car checked out for peace of mind...

Banff is not far from me, do you have any pics of the car to see if I recognise it?

Sunnyhill motors is fine, I have used them (bought my evo form them), no problem there for me.

Turriff tyres are great for tyres and alloys, fitting service etc is fine. Powerflow systems have been a bit of a hit or a miss, one of my mates had a system form them that fell off twice, lifetime guanentee though I think so got it sorted ok.

Never used wallace so cannot comment.

Do you know who fitted the new engine?...because you can just contact the garage that did!

Your quite right trying to find out the history of the car, I would like to know if it was my car!

Like Cullenmin, nae far away, get pics across to me to see if i recognise it.

Sunnyhill Motors after service was pretty poor a few years ago, but always have a nice variety of cars.

Turriff Tyres I've had no problems, very helpful. I've used them a few times for tyres (Which i need to go to them very soon) And my Brother got a powerflow system put on his car nearly 2 years ago with no problems what so ever. He was asked to go back after 6 months (I think) to give everything a quick check over. No problems at all.

get a picture up

i know a white ra who stays in banff who competed last few years in the sprint championship

forgot to mention my car only came in to the UK in April 07, so hopefully it's not the ex-sprint car! i also have the proper mileage document showing KPH before it was converted to MPH. I don't think it is hiding any horror stories :D it drive's "very tight" all panel's are spot-on and on very close inspection the only areas that have ever been painted are the STi part's that have been fitted.

pic's

PS, it's now even more cleaner than these pic's, i'm hoping to attend next week's meet in Hillington so if anyone want's a proper nosey you are welcome to look :driving:

like i say's i have the last owners name and addy i can PM it to folk who may know the area :P

That looks smart as mate very clean looking. I had a bad expreience with Wallace performance when i had my MG ZR 160 i made a special trip from Orkney down to get the car mapped so i dropped the car off for the day expecting the work to be done. Later i got a phone call from them saying they could not do the work as they did not have the correct software :P so i was pretty piffed off but they told me they could change the censor for the exhaust as it had a full SS exhaust and a 4-2-1 branch comp manifold They STILL had the cheek to charge me over £100 for a small job i could do my self :hl: . Total cost of wasted trip to Aberdeen £100 for Boat £85 for petrol £130 for two nights Accom time wasted 3 days money lost as not working on Farm £110. It all added up to one verry annoyd me ;) And at the end of it they were like ok good bye thats us conned you so sod off..

Would be best to check history before you buy would it not? If it makes your mind at ease then its worth it. :D

:rotfl::iagree: that all sound's to sensible for me :rotfl: .. the night i bought my car it was "well checked out" by 2 impreza owner's that i know who missed out absolutly nothing on the car, all i was wanting more history/info about was the engine work that had been done i only knew any engine work was carried out by seeing the bill's/recipts that came with my car (other than seeing the shiney new fitted block)

PS, same goes for insurance with me, if i like the car i normaly just buy it then think "i better see about insurance cost's now?"
