Oolix Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 Is there any members out there in the yeovil area who could try and look at my scooby and maybe figure out what is wrong with it cos i can't get it remapped till i have got rid of these. here is the thread. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=113481 Thank you Oolix
scooby princess Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 jd, scoobtastic, martynj or petenofear should be able to assist mate. Sorry i cant offer any other advice.
Oolix Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 SHOUTING OUT LOUD for the above people to get in contact please. Thank you Oolix
jd Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 only just read your thread so no need to shout. my initial comment is that is the new ecu compatible with your model car? Bit difficult to diagnose, but i would say correct on the overfuelling with the 440's in as the ecu will be running injector duty for smaller injectors and will therefore overfuel. send Petenofear a pm as he is in yeovil and has contacts at a subaru garage nearby.
tazman Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Silly question but if its over fueling wouldn't the remap sort it out?
jd Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 the remap would sort out the overfuelling, but what is causing the other faults?
Oolix Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 Yes i'm in contact with pete and the garage he deals with. It is the fault codes that i'm more worried about. Oolix
petenofear Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 (edited) as i said to u mate when u came over GET them 440s out AND PUT standared ones back in for a start as it was fine befor u put them in as for the rest get down phils and put it on his diagnose as he is the closes rould here to tazman he cant have his ecu remped has its to old for a map i taked to AJ last night about a remap on mine and he said it would cost me £995+vat all in as it will need a simtek and new ecu Edited March 28, 2008 by petenofear
Oolix Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 These cars cost too much money lol in the middle of buying a apexi so then just get mapped and put it on a mechine does anyone mappers local. Does your guy do it pete. Oolix
jd Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I would suggest speaking to Martyn at www.enginetuner.co.uk about mapping.
Oolix Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 i have heard lots of thing about alan jefferys I will see how i get on with apexi first and sort out my errors which i think it is my wiring loom. Oolix
jd Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 but you will still need the apexi mapped, Martyn is very capable.
monkip1 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I thought 440cc injectors are standard items? As these are what my P1 runs as std setup. Hope you get the problem sorted out soon buddy!
petenofear Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 440 r standard from 99 on words mate alex go on to AJ web site ( http://www.enginetuner.co.uk/ ) mate and ask him a Q go in to Q&A at the top of his page tell him what is up and so on and he will reply as soon as he gets it very help ful mate if u r going to go for a apexi then he will supply one for u and remap it will cost u about a grand but it will b right
Oolix Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 think i found a second hand one but then just got to get a re-map i have spoken to a-j already about this and he is a little stumped to what it could be about the error codes. Oolix
turbo2000wagon Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Apexi should cost around £500 and are a doddle to fit yourself (will probably need to swap the cam and crank sensor wiring-easy crimp job). I am in Somerset so for mapping I just met up with Simon from Jolly Green Monster at a service station near Bristol and he mapped it on the road for around £300. I think the Subaru factory ecu's throw error codes far too readily and when you really have a problem they don't tell you. Far more happy since I got an Apexi.
tazman Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) as i said to u mate when u came over GET them 440s out AND PUT standared ones back in for a start as it was fine befor u put them in as for the rest get down phils and put it on his diagnose as he is the closes rould here to tazman he cant have his ecu remped has its to old for a map i taked to AJ last night about a remap on mine and he said it would cost me £995+vat all in as it will need a simtek and new ecu Thought it was a silly one!! Still learning about these cars myself.........after four years of ownership. So from what year can they be remaped without going down the apexi/piggy back ecu? I have an early V6 uk turbo. Oolix Posted April 5, 2008 Author Posted April 5, 2008 96 and before can not be remapped it's either a chip, new ecu i.e apexi. 97 - 99 - Some say they can be remapped some say you can't so again either a new ecu Apexi or a esl board. 00 - onwards i believe are all remappable ???????????? Oolix
