gb270 owners

thinking of comming back to scoobyland,seen gb270 at t&c aberdeen and hope to be tradin in the freelander.

whats it like day to day heard the stereo or lack of is pants even satnav upgrade not upto much.

i had a my 95 wrx before.

test run was ok in gb270.

servicing costs?

as freelander first serv £345

not too bothered about petrol costs as i ,m not gaininin a lot runnin fae stoney to portlethen and aboot the contryside in the landy.

much app for any swaying from the dark/greenforest side to proper driving again.

Got one myself. Yes, the stereo and speakers are pish. Cant handle any bass at all. My first service (1000mile) cost me 150 quid from Town And County in Aberdeen. Fooking steep for an oil change!

Its nice to drive - I've done 2000miles in mine now, and its eased off quite a bit now. Couple of little things that I'll be taking it back to get looked at, but nothing major.

Handles well, and pulls good. Took me a while to get used to the close ratio gearbox, and the front lip spoiler is uber low to the ground - Be careful with kerbs, and multi storey car parks (scuffed mine a wee bit)

As you'd expect - It likes petrol.

thanks ,was told 1000 service £50?? first service £125 unlikely me thinks even with sidc discount but would be a bonus if correct anyone elses thought,s experiance gratefully taken on board must make decison soon

had mine for about six weeks now, it's my 4th scooby got rid of my 53 plate sti for this one, drives well still trying to compare the differenc, just as quick through the gears, starts to run out of puff around 130 mph but wont be up there that many times, £57 for first 1000 mile oil , change, Duncan at hypertech in will be looking after this car from now on rather than the main dealer that way I know it's getting well looked after. Needs front strut brace to stiffen up the front end a bit but first mod will be a new exhaust to get back that famous burble, stereo is crap but who cares fab car to drive get yourself one it's a bargain

i got quoted £50 at t&c for first 1000 (dont even have the car if i do get it) doesn,t look good having different dealer quotes,as you say £152 for changing the oil is steep

at this rate i,ll be keepin the freelander

Well I got the car from John At S&S in Ayr, and I remember him saying that I would need to pay for the first service. As its pretty much just an oil change, didnt really expect it to come to 150 sheets that Town and county charged.

First service is labour free so shouldn't be that amount.Saying that of course longlife oil in a VW dealer is almost £15 per litre.Its purchased for £2.79 per litre.You thought Dick Turpin was dead?? Nah he's still alive.

If yours says FREE then you've been had and I'd be having words...

Invoice from Grieves was in there too. Oil, Sump Washer, Oil Filter, Filter Disposal - Total: £50.64 (includes SIDC discount on parts)

Mine says that too. But both dealers insisted I had to pay!

My car came from Triangle in Chesterfield because I was fussy and wanted a black SL. I was ages in Grieves because they had to get hold of the supplying dealer to get authorisation for them to cross-charge the labour element of the service to them. T&C may have just told you that you had to pay to save them the hassle of cross-charging. It did seem like a fair bit of red tape when it could all easily be billed back directly to Subaru UK regardless of which dealer carried the service out since they're footing the bill for it anyway.

looks like a fair agrument in rates here,what fuel are these gb270,s running usual super unleaded or v power or normal unleaded(always been a tricky question with mucho arguments) with additives millers or i am i thinking of me old import here.

again thanks for bearing with me as i will hopefully decide tomorrow.

I was told to run mine on 99 Octane. But it will handle normal unleaded if required in emergency as the ECU can adjust to it. Just dont thrash it on Normal Unleaded. It may not like it, and may give less performance.
