craig79 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) Someone on here has bound to come across this little problem. I bought the mintex 1155 pads for the brembos knowing that there might be problems so here we go : The short term bite of these pads is really good but what I've noticed is if I'm doing reasonably heavy braking for a longer time a kind of a dull whine noise happens. It's no the best description I know but there is no vibration of any kind and looking at the pads there's nothing worrying to see ?? Don't know if this is a mintex trait but it's a bit daunting when you hear it. Bare in mind these pads aren't the 'x' (extreme) ones, they were only 40ish quid so you get what you pay for I suppose. This happened to anyone else ?? Thanks folks, Craig. Edited March 3, 2008 by craig79
craig79 Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Meant to also say I've got drilled & grooved discs (never had these before), this wouldnae cause it would it ?? Craig.
dipsy Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) Had mintex 1155 on a classic my00 uk turbon and they squeled when reversing well touching brake pedal .They have good grip but the brake disks don't last with the hard compound of the 1155 . Edited March 3, 2008 by Dipsy
fai17 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 The dull whine noise is from the drilled grooved disc m8... I had the same noise on my EBC turbo groove discs.
irish al Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Are you sure they are 1155 ???. I have never saw any where selling them for £40. Am sure the 1144 and the 1155 are far better then the extreme pads would ever be.
nanaki Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 yeah the extreme series of pads are not the same as the m series pads of which the 1155's are very popular. i've got them and about the cheepest you will find 1155's is 80-90 (4 pots mind you not brembo) depending on where you look.

Thanks Peter, you've just seriously put the mind to rest was flappin' a bit there To all who were asking, got the pads from XS Motorsport. Checked the bank statement after getting them; definitely £45ish. As I mentioned way back when I was first considering these that I'll probably opt for the 'X' anes next time. Think fae memory they're £75ish. Peter; meant to mention also I've got the EBC dimpled / grooved discs on. Thanks everyone. Edited March 4, 2008 by craig79
