paulc555 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Can anyone advise.......the following size is on a competition Pirelli tyre....can anyone decifer it or tell me what the nearest "road tyre" size would be.......... 225/625/17 its the profile obviously that confuses me.......... anyone ?????? thanks in advance Paul
john mac Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 On road tyres the profile is given as a percentage ,where as on competition tyres the 625 is in mm and represents the overall diameter of the tyre, pretty sure it equates to a 45 % profile road tyre.
fiestajohn Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Have a look here tyre converter 215/45 R17 looks the closest to the 625mm diameter.

On my ra I use Pirelli 210 / 625 X 17 on new age STi rims. These still rubbed the rear arches until I ground them back.

No they are definately that size, because when the car was being prepped it had to be fitted with snazzy Eibach competition wheel spacer kits...which were not cheap trust me....brought the wheels out and allowed for the fast road settings to be applied...but the tyres on at the moment are only for competition use....and Im annoyed to discover I will now have to fork out for 4 new tyres as well as everything else over the last few weeks.....the drive however is well worth it....just hope the change from competition tyres to a good road tyre doesnt compromise the stunning handling to much....

David is on the right track.. What width of wheel and what is it's offset. I think you might just get a 225 with an aditional spacer under the arch of an early Imprezza. I have 235s on my racecar, on an 8" et48 offset, but the 225 on your tyres refers to the tread width, not the tyre width on a road tyre. So if the are on a smaller rim with a higher offset, even with spacers it might fit. ---john--- Edited February 24, 2008 by JohnSt
