mikeyb13 Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Planning on doing a Service on the Subaru. Looking for advice as to which oil to use. It is a slightly (at the moment) modified 97TypeR, 36000 miles and low but spirited annual mileage. Lots of people seem to be recommending Millers 10/40 in the threads but to be honest Ive never heard of it. Before I had the Subaru I always used Mobil One believing it to be the best?. Any opinions? Where in the Lothians can you buy Millers?
jodie typeRA Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 extreme motersport (in whitburn) used to sell it .not sure iff thay still do it
john mac Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 A lot of the rally boys use millers oils and they tend to be a bit less expensive than Motul . I have personally used Millers cfs 10/60 for the last 9 years in my scoobs, a lot of the Mobil stuff is too thin for the boxer engine.
ur.a.bus Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 i get my millers oil from ebay, i go for the deal on a sump washer, filter and oil http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Import-Car-Parts-...0QQftidZ2QQtZkm good seller, fast delivery
johnnyr6 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Most decent oils seem to be fine (millers, valvolene, mobil 1) if you use the correct grade. I used to use mobil1 but it has to be the motorsport as standard mobil1 is too thin (0w/30 iirc). I now use valvolene (as i get it cheap) and found it to keep oil temps lower than mobile1. Johnny
iain_ogston Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 If the car is modified Millers CFS 10/60 is excellent. Ran my old 95 block on it, and now using it in the STI6 block. My local specialist buys it in bulk, but you can get it off ebay or any good motorsport dealer.
