l2 nrm Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 who all was down?saw plenty impreza's down there today!
mikeyb13 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) I was there, my first time soon as I saw it had to have a go. Not as easy as you would think! Good time had by all. Made amateur mistakes every run. First two times too scared to rev it got in the low 14s. Then hit the rev limiter. Last time missed the lights looking at the speedo to make sure the revs where up, lost 0.8 but it flew off the line, but for some inexplicable reason took my foot off the gas about 50 metres from the line thinking it was a bad time and my buddy was miles behind. 13.8 gutted, but cant wait to go back and try get it right. RS Grant Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 I was there, racing my mates Castrol Celica mostly... couldnt get the car off the line and then later in the day, the massive queues were making the car too hot by the time you got to race. I wasn't hitting peak boost at any time yesterday, apart from first run when it was cold and damp. Still had a good laugh though which is what its all about. Cheers, Grant

andy Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Looks like it was quite a profitable day for the Fife Scamera Pratnership. Clicky Linky I don't agree with the ton-plus idiots, but you can bet your boots the majority were caught by the Talivan on the "busy" (sic) A92 on a nice quiet Sunday morning where it's dual carriageway and perfectly safe to do more than 70. 106 x MINIMUM £60 = £6360. Not a bad days earnings.

thefastone Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Well I cant say anything about the ton plus, having been on the wrong end of that before in the past... but then 3 vans, Yeah, "busy A92" Yeah... Easy money... sounds more like it, but hey... that what Happens... A day like that they Do tend to be more in force... its not like its not to be expected...
zeolite Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I have 2 thoughts about this. 1. As I live just off the southern route to Crail (just before Leven) I often hear the roar as the cars and bikes race off from the Windygates roundabout so I know that people are speeding on those roads and that includes the really bad accident blackspot on the Standing Stanes road. So they should have cameras there. 2. What is the point of doing people at 80 on the dual carriageway bit of the A92? Only revenue collection. However this isn't new as I remember Gumball getting done 2 years ago. It is no secret that the cameras are out and really they are only taxing stupidity.
mikeyb13 Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I wonder how many people three mobile speed cameras would catch in a normal day? Not much less than this me thinks. Sensationalist journalism again or simply Politics?
thefastone Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 You could be well right there mate, by linking one to the other, I wouldn't be surprised if alot of the folks caught were nothing to do with the Crail event... Although I'll be willing to bet that they take more money from a BTCC event or a BSB event at Knockhill any year, in fact, the BSB would probably be worse I think...
