Aberdeen Scoobies Forum Dead ?

"Sorry, this board is no longer available."

Has the plug been pulled after the up-set this morning or is maintenance being conducted ? It needed a spring clean anyways...

I am a bi-daily contributor in the Scottish Scoobies regardless but it would be good to know if the admin resignations has led to the plug being pulled all-together ?

Aberdeen meets will still happen anyway with Dale as the RO.

Cheers

See that's what happens when you give up administration duties because even I don't know why the board is down !

Just to clear things up for any of the Aberdeen members who may be in the dark over what has happened, owing mainly to personal reasons i've decided to step down as admin on the Aberdeen Scoobies forum because I feel I can't give the job the attention it needs, my mind is on other things at the moment. As anyone who is/has been admin on a fourm will testify, it needs a LOT of attention.

I am however staying on as a member and will be continuing to run the Website.

looks like it is down altogether now because 'board contents under investigation'

I can see the provider pulling the plug now sadly.

What irks me is that somebody MUST (I would have thought) complained to the provider for that to happen so fast

Ari - if you need a new board setting up on my server just let me know min B)

It's either a complaint has been received Arthur or possibly that because I deleted myself the board is running without an Administrator and that is not allowed, would be nice if Iforumer would contact me with an explanation of what's going on.

Be a bit sad if someone has lodged a complaint though, if that's the case then I DEFINITELY won't be back.

God knows why anyone would complain Ari, but it does happen and is usually the reason why a provider will do this, but hopefully not this time

Might explain why I have not had my membership confirmed then! Applied ages ago, and never got an email back form the admin.

Will not worry about it any more then!

Steve.

This is incredibly sad. You guys have a fantastic community up there. I know it can be easy for things to get out of hand on forums when it's just words on a screen, but as a community you have so much going for you and achieved a helluva lot in a very short period of time. Hope to see you back online soon

If you want a temporary dedicated Forum created on here till you sort things out then not a problem. We've done it for other Clubs in the past who've had technical difficulties.

Apologies for that Steve, every so often when a new member signed up the registration email would go to my spam folder and wasn't read, I guess that's what happened to you. However EVERY new member got activated, if I didn't get the aforementioned email I activated them from the control panel. I'm guessing you may have fallen victim to the 72 hour post rule i.e. you don't post within 72 hours of registration you get deleted. Not your fault as you didn't get your confirmation Email. You following this at all ?!?!

Don't let it put you off joining up in the future though.

Thanks for the explaination Kloon, I didnt mean to point fingers - just obviously if you have been stepping down as admin then these things happen. Not to worry!

I will let everything settle down and try to register again once it is up and running.

Well the board is back, with a whole forum removed due to "questionable content" after a "formal complaint"

Can't believe someone actually went to the bother of complaining to Iforumer about what was no more than handbags.

I was swithering a wee bit about whether i'd made the right decision to leave my admin duties but this is the end for me, I want nothing more to do with that forum. All the hours i've put into Aberdeen Scoobies and it comes to this, sad, very sad.

Mate, you get keyboard warriors on every Forum - most of them think they're top bollock after two cans of Top Deck. Trust me - I've been an Admin on big forums for... blimey... 7 years now and seen it all. I've even had death threats for deleting posts. Did it bother me? Did it buggery. Just laugh them off as the idiots they are. If you let them bother you and quit over it then they win. Don't jack it in over this.

Woah! Never had death threats address to me through forums... (A colleage of mine did once and they weren't working on the forums he just owned the site).. Had plenty of folk threatening law suits and stuff though... Never came to anything...

Forums are a pig to keep a hold off.. They are great for a small community but as it gains popularity peopel filter in from all corners and sooner or later it becomes a full time job trust me!.. I've had my share of 36+hr days keeping things under control... Won't be playing that game again any time soon... Learnt to turn my back on most of it...

In saying that it can also be good fun!

Ultimate death threat was the "I have a Magnum. If you ever come to a (Motorbike) Trial in the USA you are a dead man". I've since been to two World Trials in the USA and have yet to hear the words "Make my day, punk" B) I think I might have misunderstood and he actually meant he had an ice cream he intended using in anger :D

Yeah, I've had the lawsuit threats too and they never come to anything. More keyboard warriors

A biker group that I occasionally use on MSN have a whole section of the forum DEDICATED to death threats... and theres only like 40 or so if us on there.... scattered around the uk mainly, but with like one or two in canada...

its all fun...
