eddie_evo Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 cheers m8 its all in good fun but the knockhill guys gave me the black flag for doing at 1st but then let me get on with it, people standing watching want to see drifting thats what its all about,
fai17 Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Looks like a great day but cold.......i would have been on but the issues still eeds ironing out.
RA Dunk Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 cheers m8 its all in good fun but the knockhill guys gave me the black flag for doing at 1st but then let me get on with it,people standing watching want to see drifting thats what its all about, think there not too bad as long as theres nothing behind you, ive fancied trying it in the past but usually bottle it at the last minute then theres the vultures (photographers) always waiting patiently for the snap that makes there day

thefastone Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 (edited) then theres the vultures (photographers) always waiting patiently for the snap that makes there day Hahahahahahahahah.... Yeah, were always watching..... Some Great pics here guys, and yeah, Scott, I agree with Neil, those are some good shots, but that portrait was awsome! I just wished that I was able to get down for this, but alas, work strikes again, I wouldn't care But I've been in Aberdeen harbour for the last week too!!! Next one perhaps... Although I think that a shiney new lens thats a bit more suited to this kind of photography is in order... which brings me to a question... Seeing as I am only using a canon 18-55mm lens (Camera is a 350D), (And might have a 50mm lens soon too....) and Need to buy a new one... I know a few of your are using Canon... Whats your weapon of choice? (for this kind of photography) Edited November 26, 2007 by thefastone
4Hero Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 (edited) Whats your weapon of choice? (for this kind of photography) 100-400mm for me mate, and my trusty 40D Edited November 26, 2007 by 4hero
johns Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Most of my photos at the hairpin were taken with my 70-200 F4 lens, which is very nice to use. Light, fast focussing and you can go from 70 - 200mm with a few inches of wrist movement. Another one worth consider would be the 70-300 lens, which also has IS built in and has a bit more reach. I've also got a 100-400 which I use for the longer range shots, generally using a tripod or monopod as it's a bit on the heavy side unless you are used to it like Neil is You are welcome to try out any of my lenses if you want yo meet up somewhere at some point ? John
robertnes Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Quality shots Colin Colin, Quality pictures! Any chance you could email me a copy of number 18 (P1 and Evo) from your gallery??
thefastone Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 that would be fantastic John, give me a good idea of the differences between them all.... And Neil, WOW! that looks like a meaty setup mate!!!! and quite a bulky tripod also... must be a bit of a pain lugging that about is it?
4Hero Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Colin, Quality pictures! Any chance you could email me a copy of number 18 (P1 and Evo) from your gallery?? I don't think this will happen mate, he's a professional you know, $$ And Neil, WOW! that looks like a meaty setup mate!!!! and quite a bulky tripod also... must be a bit of a pain lugging that about is it? I just "borrowed" that image for now, but the lens is the same. I have a manfrotto tripod, which is not quite as bulky as the one in the image
thefastone Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 nice one, Yeah should have clocked the URL (Do'h!) ah well... I think thats the thing I'm buying next, is a manfrotto tripod, but again not one that bulky... Was looking at their non geared tripods, perhaps one of those newer ones, (150X I think it was that I was looking at...) But Ive been to bed since.... either way, I need a new one, most of my photography tends to be at night, so really its one of the most important bits of kit for me... Yeah, I'm rambling now....

dark Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Message from Angus (blue Masserati Spyder) How good was Saturday!!? Excellent fun. I just hope I don’t get too much grief for holding all the 4 wheel drive boys up in the corners! I was a bit cagey about some of them particularly before it dried out later. Nice to really give the car a blast and pretty happy with my performance albeit I reckon I was only ever at about 80%, certainly in the corners. The bad news is that I think my clutch is starting to go! Oh well, what the hell, you’ve got to enjoy these cars. I can’t register on SIDC but had a look. Have seen some of the pics that have been posted. Perhaps you could cut and paste this by way of my thanks to John in particular and to everyone else I met and their tolerance of a “relative” novice (NB second time out on track Mark but first with the Maser;)) . Will need to go and have a squint in the Scottish Elise site to see what they’re saying about the slow git in the poncy Maser…;/ A
fai17 Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 I've uploaded some of my pics that came out OK (hundreds didn't!) here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnsidc/sets...57603291379889/ John Great pics John
