Recommended Brake Pads For Bug Wrx

Need some ideas as to what brake pads are available for a bugeye WRX along with rough prices.

Just doing a routine check over the car today and realised one of the front off side brake pads is dead (that woudl explain the squeaking I've been hearing recently :rotfl: ).

So I'll be ordering a set of front brake pads today/tomorrow from somewhere..

What pads would you recommend? Want something that will be better than standard, hard wearing and cost effective! :stupid:

No need for a full brake upgrade at the moment as it's just the pads that need doing...

Thanks,

When I was in the same boat as you I phoned Alyn at http://www.asperformance.com/ for advice and prices.

He was a really nice guy and took time out for a wee blether to ask what I was planning to do with the car.

I bought the Ferodo DS2500 but he also recommended the Pagids. I think they about £100 delivered.

I fitted mine with standard discs, braided hoses and some Dot 5.1.. Job done... The car never goes near a track so it works well for my needs. The only other thing I've still to fit is the Brake Stopper kit .

The DS2500 pads seem to pretty well regarded by most... I have them on the rear brakes on my one, and will most likley go for them on the front too, although dont ask me prices...

but of you go to the likes of ScoobyWorld and ScoobyParts they will both have them...

Dont mean to ignore your advice so far :stupid: But I'm leaning towards the TAR-OX pads at the moment.. Mainly due to price..

P/N should be PN2703 but if someone wants to correct me, please do!

The thinking is that I was hoping to replace the discs and pads next year with a decent package and I just needs something to tide me over for now until then.. At which point I'd probably get some grooved discs and ferodo pads...

Any bad points on Tarox stuff? Or is it just a case of there are better ones out there.. As long as it's not worse than standard pads I'm happy..

I had tarrox pads fitted a couple of years ago with 40 groove discs and didnt rate them much, i then tried ebc red stuff and didnt find them up to much either, i found mintex 1155 to be a good pad with the standard brembo calipers, i'm now running ferodo ds3000's with ap 6 pots and the braking force is fantastic with no fade anytime, i have never tried them with standard calipers though.

I recently needed to replace the OEM discs and OEM pads on my blob WRX too. Called Alyn at ASPerformance and talked over a few options - ended up with standard OEM discs and Pagid4-2-1's. He said that the Pagid and Ferrodo would give very similar results and just came down to choice - just felt like giving Pagid's a go. Notice a difference in stopping ability after bedding in, slightly sqeal when braking on reverse but no big deal.
