teocalli
Hi all, For the last 2 days my AUTOMATIC gearbox has been playing up. 1st and second gear work perfectly, but anything above seems to go into neutral and the rev climbs without any kind of pull being felt from the car. Has ANYONE got experience with automatics who can assist. Would be hugely grateful. Cheers, Teo. Link to comment
fai17
I didn't even know your car was a automatic!!! Link to comment
teocalli
Yea. Takes away some of the fun, but performance wise, it still delivers. Just feel gutted right now as I can't go any faster than 2nd gear! Aaaaaaaaarg!!!!!!!! Do you know anyone who could help me out Peter? Link to comment
st3ph3n
teo, AlanG mentioned a gearbox place to me but I forget their name now. You've also got Strathclyde Gearbox Services - http://www.strathclydegearboxservices.co.uk/contactus.html - Fixed a diff for a mate of mine. Could be worth a shout? They're in Rutherglen and easy to find. Link to comment
teocalli
Cheers St3ph3n, Much appreciated. I'll give then a shout in the morning. Hopefully nothing too serious. Link to comment
teocalli
OK. Strathclyde Gearbox Services didn't deal with autos, but did recommend Top Gear in Cathcart Place, Kings Park. Quote (over the phone without taking a look) came in at £980 plus VAT!!!!!!!!!! OMG! I've got a noose at the ready. Surely somone out there knows of someone who can spare my life? Link to comment
thefastone
buy a new one... You'd surely get a new one for that money.... in fact, I should have thought that gearboxes would for sure be an item that Subaru would do part ex.... they do it on a few parts as it goes... Link to comment
teocalli
Right. Had her at Mackie Transmissions today (who are regarded as the best in the business) and they quoted me at just over £2k. With just over 3 weeks since the birth of my beautiful wee girl, I feel the time may have come for me to part with my love. Link to comment
