Gearbox Problem (i Think).....help Please!

Hi all,

For the last 2 days my AUTOMATIC gearbox has been playing up. 1st and second gear work perfectly, but anything above seems to go into neutral and the rev climbs without any kind of pull being felt from the car.

Has ANYONE got experience with automatics who can assist. Would be hugely grateful.

Yea. Takes away some of the fun, but performance wise, it still delivers. Just feel gutted right now as I can't go any faster than 2nd gear!

You've also got Strathclyde Gearbox Services - http://www.strathclydegearboxservices.co.uk/contactus.html - Fixed a diff for a mate of mine. Could be worth a shout? They're in Rutherglen and easy to find.

OK. Strathclyde Gearbox Services didn't deal with autos, but did recommend Top Gear in Cathcart Place, Kings Park.

Quote (over the phone without taking a look) came in at £980 plus VAT!!!!!!!!!!

You'd surely get a new one for that money.... in fact, I should have thought that gearboxes would for sure be an item that Subaru would do part ex.... they do it on a few parts as it goes...

Right. Had her at Mackie Transmissions today (who are regarded as the best in the business) and they quoted me at just over £2k.

With just over 3 weeks since the birth of my beautiful wee girl, I feel the time may have come for me to part with my love.
