Cold/damp Starting Problem.

A bit of technical help required folks, the last 2 days when starting my car the engine sounded as if it was mis-firing when starting up from cold,a very lumpy tickover and a bit of popping. Then after about 5 mins warming up it ticks over as normal. If i try to move of before its warmed up there is very little throttle response, and it picks up and splutters a bit then will not increase in revs at all for a few minutes.

On opening the bonnet to check for anything obvious i was treated to a "fireworks "show of sparks dancing around the bolts on the ignition coil thingy. So i nipped over to Hypertech for Dunc to have a butchers,...."it looks like the coil packs goosed" i was informed..."you only get them at a main dealers"

So i was wondering if you can get this part from any where else cheaper than the "stealers",would this alone be the cause of my start up probs' as car runs fine after "warm-up".

And finally is this the right thing i need??, or is there anything else i would have to get,and is it just the 4 bolts on top and re-fit leads?

Mark, Different type of coil-packs are dependant on what year your classic is.

The later type (which if i remember you have ) will have this type which is situated to the right of the ICV.

There's someone through near Paisley who breaks subaru's, i haven't got his number but it was posted up earlier this week.

sorted now Dave, thanks to Stephen at Scottish Subarus on Nielston rd. Paisley,(just behind a fireplace shop called "The fire station"),top bloke for any used parts :icon_salut: .

Not meaning any harm to the good folks of Paisley on here, but when i called into a Shell stn.(opposite Morrison's),i asked the staff to point me in the direction of Nielston rd.,the glaekit look i got was funny, then she said i think this is it were on ,then a young chap said ,naw its up that way ,pointing back up towards the Hurlet, thankfully a quick call to Stephen for directions and i was there in 5 mins. :D .

Anyway,i'm off to fit it now so hopefully i'll be sorted shortly,oh and thanks to Craig(Seafar99)for the info  ,(just my airbox/resonator thing to do now!! :P
