scooby princess Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) There was a thread asking for comments on what members had thought about this clubs show season and this was raised by a well respected and liked member who has attended some of our meets and events:- I would like to make this suggestion to the CJUK team: How about looking at designing our club stands at shows for a start? For instance; the only stand I thought looked anything like professional this year was at JAPFEST. We have some beautiful cars in Club Jap, but to line them up in 'car park' fashion at shows is pathetic! Sorry to be blunt, but I really think more thought should be put into the design of our stands. I know that all the stands are of different shapes and sizes, but come on guys, surely you can do better! For instance: I attended the Western Car Show at Exeter and the SIDC stand was long and narrow, with about 20 cars on it. However, there had been a lot of thought on the layout and it was done in the following fashion: 1. The stand was roped off. 2. There were two show cars at either end of the stand raised on ramps with banners alongside. 3. The cars in between were arranged in a staggered curved fashion, allowing for the best display of all the other vehicles. 4. They had two gazebos in the centre, one acting as an entrance to the stand lined with pics of members cars and a brief description, that got a lot of attention. 5. In the gazebo behind, they sold SIDC stuff, and held a raffle with donated prizes. 6. They had music going all day, and some committee members dressed up in fancy dress and sold tickets for the raffle to the passing crowd. 7. They had a 'show and shine' for both exterior, and interior. At £1 an entrant. The club raised over £200 on these activities alone, and won the Best Stand award to boot! Now guys, surely we can do as good, or better? All, or some, of the above should be done at out next show. It would only need just a little more organisation and forethought! I for one would be happy to help in any way I can, as I have a lot of time to spare now. And to raise some cash to get stuff, we need to have some winter indoor events, and I could help organise quiz nights, skittles, pool, or darts matches. Just let me know, and I'd be happy to help! monkip1 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Looks good if other clubs want to follow in the foot steps of the hard work our R/o's put in to each club stand at shows. Also shows how good the rep for SIDC has in Sw if they are pushing to try and push the boundries for making the club stand look top!. Monki.
