st3ph3n Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Well my car went to Milngavie on Friday to get the faulty bearing replaced under warranty. Whilst in there they found excess wear on another part and although it caused a delay until Monday it got replaced too. Whilst the car was over I asked Halleys to look at my gearbox problem as an act of goodwill after the previous service I had from them that wasn't too my liking. They did and found some bolts weren't tight, a spring missing and some sort of tag not in the right place. They've all been righted and although I can't be 100% sure about the 'box I'd like to think my troubles with it are now over. I've not been able to replicate the issue I was having with it 2 weeks ago, but I couldn't replicate it last week before the car had been looked at by anyone. Time will tell I suppose. The service manager over there really helped me out with getting the first bit done under warranty and also looking at the box for no charge. I'm not satisfied bolts were loose on the gearbox though - but that's a whole other kettle of fish for a different garage.

WUZ Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Aye....probably the same garage that done my engine conversion, fitting the twin plater and various other peoples cars. All I was about to say is that with the volume of work they do, combined with their well-earned reputation, this has been an small oversight on the part of one of the mechanics. Missing bolts I would be annoyed at, loose ones just need a phone call to the service manager and a request for a free service and all will be OK. A friendly phone call on your part will see them trying their level best to rectify the issue as I am sure they want to help. Keep using them Stephen, they didn't get their high grade reputation for nothing! Russell
st3ph3n Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 I don't think this work is a reflection of the quality of Greers work - there's certainly a lot of shining examples of it out there. Some of which I have driven or indeed dribbled over. They'll be getting a call though, don't worry about that.

Currently some Golf R32's are shakin loose the bolts that hold the gearbox casing together,so you never know mate.
