imprezapete Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 i would imagine so as its the first thing people seem to comment on What like that and the fact its as ugly as sin? I could just about live with the saloon having some redesigned front parts and in STi Flavour, but this hatchback sucks.
fai17 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 Did a quick photochop Woww stunning.....me like it alot like that
colzo Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Will have to see it in the metal, still not convinced. Maybe a face lift in a couple of years and a few Prodrive styling mods could twist my arm.
whitenuckleride Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Did a quick photochop Nice work - looks like a 6r4 on steroids - hard as nails looking
craig79 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) Compared to alot of you lads I'm pretty wet behind the ears with the subaru model history. But I have noticed one thing when it comes to any drastic change to the impreza shape. When the transition happened between classic and bug mostly everyone hated it ?! Then the blob came along, this was probably seen as a revolation due to improving the front end ? Now I wonder if most folk would still love the blobs as much if they came out right after the classics There's bound to be a wee tweak of this latest incarnation later down the line and by that point everyone will have adapted to this shape and then say "yeah much better I'm away to order mine now". I do agree that the wrx looks pretty pash but that wee sti picture from 4hero looks pretty good imo, and is achieveable which is the main thing. It's all about just getting used to new things eh ? Other than the classics, all newager impreza's are ugly swines, but with some basic styling add on's they can look good; this versions no different. Give i time lads you'll all love it in the end Philosophical mode off Craig. Edited October 10, 2007 by craig79
jas41 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I think the STI looks much much better than the WRX but the flared wheel arches makes the front lights & grill look out of proportion. I do wonder what people would have thought of the STI if they had not seen the standard car first. Do people like the STI compared to existing models or is it just so much better than the new wrx that it will be accepted? I feel that it is a shame that Subaru have decided to do a complete rethink and come up with a totally different car and yet still call it an impreza. When Ford did the same they were able to ditch the escort name and come up with a focus. Could Subaru really not come up with a new name for their new car or are they just hoping people buy the new impreza hoping that the image from the old car follows? As for the front end, I have read in Autocar & auto express that they are doing a face lift next year and are shortly to offer a body kit for this year's model.

Agree mate, the impreza's made a serious impact on the motoring industry and it's one of those cars that most car daft boys and girls have thought, "one day I'm having myself one of those". Its kind of the affordable pinnacle of performance cars (well, one of a few). Subaru know this and are eeking it out which is fair enough, but I'm a believer in evolution. How long do you think subaru would last if they didn't keep pushing the envelope, they would be dead in the water within 5 ~ 10 years. Suppose it's only natural that they take advantage of their meal ticket which is the 'badge'. Craig. Edited October 10, 2007 by craig79
4Hero Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 and the general digg community consensus decides that it's gash too
craig mac Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Would order it tomorrow if it was for real that is stunning
bogie Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Better than expected, looks quite good in the silver too. A good looking car in it's own right, but not an Impreza as we would know it.
nkwrx Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 From some angles it works, the silver is also good but from straight on it still looks like Flipper!
jimser Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 (edited) not too bothered about the looks as long as its a winner then thats the main thing. just hope its not as heavy as a uk hawkeye sti jim Edited October 11, 2007 by jimser
