Scooby Hoo? Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 OK GUY's This is the dilemma do I go for the fully loaded, 10 miles on the clock RB 320 or this Porsche GT3 with full Porsche service history and 31000 miles on the clock, one year Porsche warranty. It's not quite mint condition but very close, has all the toy's except sat nav. The Insurance is the same price, service costs are almost the same. The Porsche is a really comfortable drive but doesn't really feel that fast although on paper it is. I'm not allowed to drive the RB320 because they don't want any more miles put on the clock, which I can understand. If I go for the GT3 I will have to sell the scooby. Jazz Jill wants me to have the RB 320 so that she can have the WRX. Now you can understand my dilemma. Not that it will make my mind up but let me know your thoughts.
scoots Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Sorry no contest go for the RB320 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wedmonds1 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 hmmm a tough but a nice decision to have to make I am not to sure... I might be tempted to go for the GT3 as I would get itchy feet having had a scooby before. I am looking into these at the moment
leebo77 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 The Porsche does look the nuts..... ....but I'm with the 320 vote. But then I am biased. LOL. One of the deciding factors for the 320 for us was the reason it was built, plus the fact that it's got the best of what Prodrive/Subaru have to offer at the moment.
granby Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 hmmm the Subaru blood in me says go for the RB320 but the GT3 is very tempting, not very helpful i know but you did ask for our thoughts

As much of a scoob fan as I am (on my 2nd one now) personally I'd go for the GT3. I've driven a C4S and I thought it was a really nice drive, more comfortable a ride without sacrificing the handling, etc. Would imagine that the GT3 would be a harder ride but would still expect it to be a smoother ride than the std STi suspension.
leebo77 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Would imagine that the GT3 would be a harder ride but would still expect it to be a smoother ride than the std STi suspension. RB320 is not std STi Suspension. The ride is much better than std.
iainc Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 RB320 is not std STi Suspension. The ride is much better than std. Yeah, but as I've only had experience of the std 06 STi suspension or the C4S Porsche suspension I was trying to base it on that. I would still imagine that the GT3 suspension would be better than the RB320's stuff, although you never know. On the C4S the ride was nice but comfy, switch it onto the "sport" mode and it's more bouncy (like the STi) but still a nicer ride. Also, the residuals on the GT3 will outperform the RB320 (IMO) although that's probably less of a concern for someone choosing between them. The 911's that have rear seats, are surprisingly spacious (I didn't think you could fit anyone in them at all previously) but the GT3 does away with them. The scoob is great performance for the money, but in a choice between the two of them then I know which way I'd go if money wasn't an issue (and 31k on the clock is not a problem either, if it had 100k on the clock then maybe that would be an issue).

I am looking into these at the moment They are a superb looking car but it's the reliability question that would concern me but that said they do have a fabulous sound track
iainc Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 They are a superb looking car but it's the reliability question that would concern me but that said they do have a fabulous sound track That was the reason the guy I know with the C4S swapped from a hardtop version of that to the Porsche. He'd always slagged off Porsches in the past (so he said) but after trying one he was hooked.
dunks Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Although i do love the scoobs and the 320 especially black is a horrible colour to keep clean, I should know lol,Porsche all the way for me and i like the colour.
mean greenie Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 THE RB320 IS A GREAT LOOKING CAR, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THE PORSCHE IF IT WAS MY MONEY. GOOD LUCK

Scooby Hoo? Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 Hi COL2 Yes it is already de-badged but I'm not so sure about the Subaru badges LOL
matthew_buckland Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 (edited) I think if you have to ask then you will have to go for the GT3, The RB320 was built for the Richard Burns Fans and thats the spirit it should be brought in. Its not something that should be pitted against another car. (I'd love the 320 or rb5 as they are a tribute to someone we hold in great esteem) Edited October 7, 2007 by Scuzz
wedmonds1 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 They are a superb looking car but it's the reliability question that would concern me but that said they do have a fabulous sound track Yeah i have ben looking into those issues. Anything before 2003 really needs an engine rebuild after 20,000k miles and a new clutch... My research continues

I'm propable not committed to the Richard Burns Memorial Charity enough to warrant owning the car. However I would suggest that Prodrive didn't develop the car solely for the fan, as there are new cars sitting in the dealers showrooms, but to return a profit. Richard was a fantastic driver who dead to young and I in no way would undermine any of his achievement's. It was not my intension to upset any of the club members in raising this thread and would like to apologize if this has been the case.

Its ok you didn't upset anyone, you wanted an opinion and that was mine, its true they have loads of new cars sitting in the showrooms but i think prodrive just wanted to commemerate his contribution to them, no doubt a McRae one will be released in due course, how about getting a black hawkeye sti instead.
