ScoobyDougie Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Hi all Just to give you all a reminder that in certain situations your immobiliser cannot be deactivated by the fob control, hence your car remains 'dead' Not sure which signals effect it's operation, but it happened to my car yesterday. Luckily I changed the immobiliser keypad PIN recently and got out of a fix that way. It's worth noting that the ignition key does not need to be inserted or turned so that all of the dash lights are illuminated before you key in the PIN number. If you attempt to enter the PIN with the dash lights illuminted it will not mobilise the system. You need to enter the pin, which in my case triggered the alarm. Re enter the PIN to silence the alarm and mobilise the system, then you can turn the ignition key to start the car. Cheers.

Its usually the big Mobile Masts that cause the problems. The one thing you should do when putting the pin in is leave the ignition off and the door open. Then the alarm does not go off at full sound, meaning folk are less likely to notice you and think you are trying to steal it! My pin pad is in the glove compartment so looks well dodgy when doing it in a Supermarket Carpark.

thefastone Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Well if you have set the alarm, then you might find that you can re-set it again by trying the fob in different positions, for example, if I park in a certain car park in Aberdeen, then theres a particular space I cannot park in, but If I park in the next space over it works, if I hold the fob in a certain area, same theres another space that I can unolck the car from the other side of the car, its just trial and error, but you don't half look a tit when you are doing it!! lol!!! mainly its the police transmitters, well I think anything that carries their signals, I think also some radar system might do it (like if your near an airport) I think that aberdeens used to interfere with stuff like that (not sure), Mobile phone masts I dont think affects it, as theres thoese masts everywhere, you dont even know about most of them! but the police is for certain, that blacks out a fair bit of aberdeen's city centre... Which is nice...
dipsy Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 (edited) The mhz of the alarm is the same as the police mast etc.Thats why you get the problem. This is the problem i had when i owned a my00 uk turbo Edited August 31, 2007 by Dipsy
