C_WRX
Just been going through the brake pad change experience myself this week. Advice I got, which was good advice, was to call Alyn at www.asperformance.com/ . He's very knowledgeable on braking needs for each individual car....all depends on what you want from it -vs- £cost. His prices seem okay, I think, too. Quite possible you'll end up looking to upgrade the brake pads from standard dealer, and something along the lines of EBC Red, Pagid 4-2-1 or Ferodo DS2500 as next step up, it seemed a good one for me this time round. Alyn explained the reasons, pros and cons as to why very well. Link to comment
scoob fae ork
My experience is to go after market for them to buy from Subaru you are looking to pay around £400 for a full set. I just put Mintex performance pads on the front of my 2004 STI and they work like no other pad i have ever tried they cost around £150 for the front. Hope this helps Link to comment
scootmuldoon
Ive been told that red, green and yellow stuff pads are pretty ruff on the discs, I found someone on ebay selling mintex pads fot £45 new but thought that was very cheap compared to other makes. www.jdmperformance are selling black diamond predator fast track pads for £69 which they say are for both street and track driving. Standard pads from subaru are £170 + vat. Im so confused![*-)] LOL. Link to comment
scoob fae ork
Yeah i found that i had a set of red stuff pads on and they wrecked the disks[:'(] and they didno even stop you that fast. Must say again tho Mintex get my vote [Y] Link to comment
C_WRX
Funnily enough Alyn said the red stuff pads were not too great, especially not in the company of Pagid or Ferodo. Mintex is a name I've also heard good comments on (just that Alyn didn't sell them is why they weren't mentioned!). Even price alone is a vote for upgrading, slight downside is supposedly they wear just a bit quicker ,only like 5% over life though. Link to comment
seano
Scott buy my evo and you wont need to buy pads Link to comment
gogsie
Have to agree about the Red Stuff. I had the Ceramics, they lasted 6000 miles and left my dics with bad ruts. The thing is that I guess they are performance equipment and therefor are going to wear quickly as they are more biased towards stopping than mileage. Might have got away with just pads but wanted an excuse to get grooved discs. Avoided drilled as they seem to have a reputation for cracking. Went for DBA 5000 series grooved discs (Motorsportworld £500) and Feredo DS2500 pads (MSW £145) I will see how I get on with them. Link to comment
fai17
Scott buy my evo and you wont need to buy pads Better with your scooby m8 as sean might bit your arm off to get it back. Go for Ferredo DS 2500....they are v good Link to comment
